The New Zealand women's national basketball team, nicknamed the Tall Ferns, is the women's national basketball team for New Zealand. The Tall Ferns name is one of many national team nicknames (indirectly) related to the All Blacks and/or the New Zealand silver tree fern.

Hurst first coached a Tall Ferns select team in July last year and guided the Tall Ferns during the FIBAWorld Cup Pre-Qualifier series in Mexico in August where New Zealand lost two of their three games.
