Taking Over Me

"Taking Over Me" is the second single released by British pop rock band Lawson, via Polydor Records. The single was released in the United Kingdom on 5 August 2012, as the second single from their debut studio album, Chapman Square, and reached number three on the UK Singles Chart, becoming their highest charting single to date along with "Juliet".

Music video

A music video to accompany the release of "Taking Over Me" premiered on YouTube on 6 July 2012, at a total length of three minutes and ten seconds. Directed by Josh Forbes, the video features the four boys performing in a desert town, visiting places such as restaurants and clubs. The video paired each of the boys with a different on-screen girlfriend – Andy's on-screen girlfriend was played by Chelsea Turnbo, Ryan's by Melissa Jones, Joel's by Kat McCleary and Adam's by Lexi Johnston.

Critical reception

Lewis Corner of Digital Spy gave the song a positive review stating:

"I can stop the world, with only just your kiss," frontman Andy Brown gushes on Lawson's latest single. It's a far cry from his heart-shattering ode to a past love on debut smash 'When She Was Mine', though given the song's chart success, the band certainly have a lot to be happy about at the moment. But while the four-piece return with a more positive outlook, their ear for a guitar-pop stadium filler remains second to none. "You're taking over me/ Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh/ I'm in ecstasy," they croon on a chorus befitting such elation; and with another stellar track under their worn, brown leather belts, we suspect they won't be coming down any time soon. .

Fallen (Evanescence album)

Fallen is the debut studio album by the American rock band Evanescence. It was released on March 4, 2003, through Wind-up Records and Epic Records. The album was recorded in multiple recording studios, including Conway Recording Studios in Hollywood, California. Fallen is commercially the band's most successful album to date, selling more than seven million copies in the United States alone, and more than 17 million worldwide. It debuted at number 7 on the Billboard 200, selling more than 141,000 copies within its first week, eventually peaking at number 3 in June 2003. Internationally, Fallen topped the charts in more than ten countries. Fallen has been described as nu metal,alternative metal, and gothic metal. The album also was certified 7× platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), and acquired multiple certifications worldwide.

Upon its release, Fallen received mixed to positive reviews from music critics. It spawned four singles: "Bring Me to Life", "My Immortal", "Going Under", and "Everybody's Fool". "Bring Me to Life" and "My Immortal" peaked within the charts of more than ten countries, including Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The album earned the band five nominations at the 46th Grammy Awards: Album of the Year, Best Rock Album, Best Rock Song, Best Hard Rock Performance and Grammy Award for Best New Artist, winning Best New Artist and Best Hard Rock Performance.

King of Queens (album)

King of Queens (stylized as #KOQ) is the debut studio album by Nigerian singer Yemi Alade, released by Effyzzie Music Group on October 2, 2014. Yemi Alade collaborated with producers such as Selebobo, Sizzle Pro, Shady Bizniz, Philkeyz, Young D, GospelOnDeBeatz, Dil, OJB Jezreel, Mr Chido, Fliptyce, EL Mcee and Beat Nation. The album was preceded by three singles—"Johnny", "Tangerine" and "Kissing". It features guest appearances and skits from Bovi, R2Bees, Phyno, Chidinma, DIL, Selebobo and Diamond Platnumz. Yemi Alade promoted the album by touring several African countries, including Ghana, Kenya and South Africa.

The deluxe edition of King of Queens was released in November 2014, and contains French versions of songs originally performed in English. It also contains lyrics, exclusive images, music videos, tour footage and hidden tracks. Its cover art was unveiled on 21 October 2014.

Background and composition

Work on the album started in 2013 and continued through the third quarter of 2014. In May 2014, Effyzzie Music Group revealed the album's title and told Nigeria Entertainment Today that it would be released in July 2014. On September 9, 2014, The Daily Times of Nigeria reported that the album would be released in September.

Taking Over (Overkill album)

Taking Over is the second studio album by thrash metal band Overkill, released in March 1987 through Atlantic and Megaforce Records. The album is Overkill's last to feature drummer Rat Skates, who left the band later in 1987 and was replaced by Sid Falck. It was also the first to be released through Atlantic, who would release all of the band's albums up to W.F.O. (1994).

Touring and promotion

Overkill toured for less than a year to promote Taking Over. In March–April 1987 they opened for Helloween on their Keeper of the Seven Keys Part I tour in Europe, and supported Megadeth on their Peace Sells... but Who's Buying? tour in May–June. Overkill then headlined their own shows in July–August, with Testament opening.

"Wrecking Crew" and "In Union We Stand" have been played live at almost every Overkill show to date, with the former being considered one of the band's signature songs, as well as being the title of their official website (wreckingcrew.com).

Reception

John Book at AllMusic gave Taking Over four stars out of five, saying "This New York band got a lot of attention with this album, although looking back at it, the vocals of Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth are somewhat dreadful compared to how they sound now." The album was Overkill's first to chart on the U.S. Billboard 200, reaching No. 191 and remaining on that chart for a week; it remains the band's lowest chart position to date. In 2005, Taking Over was ranked No. 450 in Rock Hard magazine's book of The 500 Greatest Rock & Metal Albums of All Time.
