T in the Park

T in the Park festival is a major Scottish music festival that has been held annually since 1994. It is named after its main sponsor, the brewing company Tennents. The event was originally held at Strathclyde Park, Lanarkshire but was held at the disused Balado airfield, Kinross-shire from 1997 to 2014. In 2015 the festival moved to Strathallan Castle, Strathallan, Perthshire. Originally a two-day event, the festival became a three-day event in 2007. Promoted by DF Concerts, the event attracts up to 255,000 people, along with 70,000 campers.

History

The festival was founded in 1994 by Stuart Clumpas and Geoff Ellis, as part of a joint venture between DF Concerts and Tennent's Lager with some help from Irish promotions company MCD Productions. Stuart Clumpas left as an organiser in 2001, selling his commercial interests in the concert.

Current festival director Geoff Ellis was involved from the start. Ellis came to Scotland in 1992 to manage King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow. He organised the first T in the Park festival in 1994 with a smattering of bands playing to 17,000 people at its original site at Strathclyde Park, Lanarkshire. The festival was held there for three years until 1997, where it was held at the disused Balado airfield, Kinross-shire. After moving to Balado the festival grew larger and by 2003, the festival was attracting up to 255,000 people; 110,000 over the weekend.

T in the Park 2011

T in the Park 2011 was a three day music festival which took place from 8–10 July 2011 in Balado, Scotland, the eighteenth event to take place. The full line up was revealed in February 2011: Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay, Beyoncé and Foo Fighters were revealed as the headliners. Blink-182 were confirmed but cancelled as they were unable to produce their new album in time for their European tour. Christmas 'early bird' tickets were released on 3 December 2010, selling out in under 24 hours. A previous 'early bird' batch was released on 15 July.

Tickets

Similar to previous years, early-bird tickets were released within days of the conclusion of the 2010 event, on 15 July 2010. Tickets remained on sale until the following Sunday. A further 'Christmas sale' took place from 3 December 2010, with tickets made available at 2010 festival ticket prices. It was confirmed on 3 December 2010 that early-bird tickets had sold out. The final batch of tickets went on sale on Friday 25 February 2011 and sold out in under an hour.

T in the Park 2015

T in the Park 2015 was a three-day music festival which took place between 10–13 July 2015 and was held at Strathallan Castle for the first time, which is 20 miles away from is previous location at the disused Balado airfield, Kinross-shire. It hit the news on several occasions including when supporters of the event said that the generation of income outweighed any local concerns about the impact on local wildlife, one man died, another man was assaulted with a bottle which apparently merited being uploaded to Facebook, traffic control was chaotic and great music acts attended.

New location

In 2014, plans were drawn up to allow the festival to be relocated to Strathallan Castle (subject to planning permission). This was due to a section of the festival grounds at Balado being situated over the Forties pipeline causing the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to request for the festival to be relocated away from its previous site at Balado. According to HSE, an accident could result in a large number of casualties and people receiving a dangerous dose of thermal radiation.

Woodlands, South Yorkshire

Woodlands is a model village 3 miles (5 km) north of Doncaster in South Yorkshire, England. The colliery village was designed and built in the early 20th century by the architect Percy Houfton as tied cottages for the miners of the neighbouring Brodsworth Colliery. In an era of model villages such as Saltaire, Port Sunlight and Bournville, Woodlands, with extensive open spaces, many different designs of houses, and overall living conditions superb for their time, possibly represents the height of the model village movement. The village is a conservation area.

Topography

Lying between the historic Great North Road (the former A1, now the A638) and a Roman Road, the houses in the village are in short terraces, typically of four, and face each other across wide avenues. At the back they typically overlook a large square open space. The Roman Road is Ermine Street, the branch from Lincoln to York via Doncaster and Tadcaster. Locally, it is colloquially known as the Roman Rigg, more correctly as the Roman Ridge.

The Park is a 2015 first-person psychological horror adventure video game, developed by Funcom. The game was released via Steam on October 27, 2015 and is a spin-off of an earlier Funcom game, The Secret World. It is set to be released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the first quarter of 2016.

Synopsis

Lorraine is a single mother who has to locate her missing son, Callum, who has run into an amusement park just as it was closing for the day. Although she can occasionally hear him calling for her, she is unable to immediately locate him and she soon finds that park has closed down despite her remaining inside. As she travels through the park calling for her son, Lorraine begins to find notes and flyers that hint at the disturbing past of the park.

Gameplay

During the game players can search the empty amusement park and read and/or pick up items like fliers, newspapers, and management folders that give information on the park and its employees. Players also have the option to ride some of the park's attractions and call out for the character's son, Callum, which can have an effect on the surrounding area.

In the Park is Charlie Chaplin's fourth film released in 1915 by Essanay Films. It was his third film while at the Niles Essanay Studio. It was one of several films Charlie Chaplin created in a park setting. The film co-starred Edna Purviance, Leo White, Lloyd Bacon, and Bud Jamison.

Synopsis

A tramp steals a girl's handbag, but when he tries to pick Charlie's pocket loses his cigarettes and matches. He rescues a hot dog man from a thug, but takes a few with his walking stick. When the thief tries to take some of Charlie's sausages, Charlie gets the handbag. The handbag makes its way from person to person to its owner, who is angry with her boyfriend who didn't protect her in the first place. The boyfriend decides to throw himself in the lake in despair, so Charlie helps him out.
