TV 2 (Norway)

TV 2 is the largest commercial television station in Norway. TV 2 started to broadcast on 5 September 1992. They have a license to broadcast national commercial television until the end of 2015 for commercial terrestrial television. Their headquarters are located in Bergen. In 1992, TV 2 A/S was admitted as full active member of the European Broadcasting Union. As is common with television (and cinema) in Norway, most foreign-language shows are subtitled in Norwegian, not dubbed (with a notable exception being children's programmes).

TV 2 HD

TV 2 started broadcasting in high-definition on June 25, 2009. Initially, the channel was only available on the terrestrial RiksTV platform. The first programme broadcast in HD was Allsang på grensen. Other broadcasts in HD during 2009 include Tour de France, Friday and Saturday movies, Sunday night football, Jakten på kjærligheten, Da damene dro, Skal vi danse and American series such as Grey's Anatomy, Cleaners, Scrubs, Brothers & Sisters, Modern Family and Criminal Minds. They also produce original programming, including the award-winning show Gylne tider.

TV-2 (band)

TV-2 (stylized as TV·2 or tv.2, short for Taurus Version 2; formerly briefly known as taurus), is a Danish pop rock band group formed in 1981 in Aarhus. The group is composed of Steffen Brandt (lead vocals, guitar and keyboards), Hans Erik Lerchenfeld (guitar), Georg Olesen (bass), and Sven Gaul (drums). Having released 17 studio albums, three live albums and two compilations, they are one of the most successful bands in Danish music history and have always consisted of the same four members.

TV-2 was formed prior to the Danish television station TV 2, which began broadcasting in 1988. Some of their songs, such as "Fantastiske Toyota" (Danish for "Fantastic Toyota"), are known to have commercial like concepts. They used to refer jokingly to themselves as "Danmarks kedeligste orkester" (meaning "Denmark's most boring orchestra").

TV2 (New Zealand)

TV2 is the second New Zealand television channel owned and operated by the state-owned broadcaster Television New Zealand (TVNZ). It targets a younger audience than its sister network, TV One. TV2's line up consists of dramas, comedies, and reality TV shows. A small number are produced in New Zealand which are either of a comedic, soap opera or reality nature, with rest of the line-up imported from mostly a Warner Bros. or Disney catalogue or a Freemantle or Endemol soap opera/reality TV catalogue.

TV2 is New Zealand's second-oldest television channel, formed in 1975 following the break-up of the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation into Radio New Zealand, Television One and Television Two. It began broadcasting on 30 June 1975, and for most of the 1970s was known as South Pacific Television. In 1980, it became a part of TVNZ when South Pacific Television and Television One merged, and reverted to the name TV2.

The channel is broadcast on the government owned Kordia terrestrial network as well as on one of the two Kordia satellite transponders, which is included in channel packages on the Freeview, Igloo, and Sky platforms. Sky also make the channel available on one of their own satellite transponders.

TV 2 (Denmark)

TV 2 is a publicly owned subscription television station in Denmark based in Odense. The station began broadcasting on 1 October 1988, thereby ending the television monopoly previously exercised by the Danmarks Radio (DR).

History

TV 2 has six subsidiary stations known as TV 2 Zulu, targeted at the youth; TV 2 Charlie, oriented towards older audiences; TV 2 News, a 24-hour news channel (launched on 1 December 2006); TV 2 Film, a non-stop movie channel (launched on 1 November 2005); TV 2 Sport, a dedicated sports channel; and TV 2 Fri, a leisure and hobby channel (launched on 5 May 2013), as well as the internet-based pay-per-view channel TV 2 Sputnik which started broadcasting in December 2004.

In 2006 TV 2 had about 1,000 employees and revenues of 1.9 billion DKK. The station has been a full active member of the European Broadcasting Union since 1990.

On 23 August 2006 TV 2 acquired at an auction the FM radio license relinquished by Sky Radio (part of Rupert Murdoch's Australia-based News Corporation) when it closed down its Danish operations in November 2005. The auction lasted 20 minutes, and TV 2's winning bid was worth 23,000,000 DKK.

Norway

Norway (ⁱ/ˈnɔːrweɪ/ NAWR-way; Norwegian:  Norge (Bokmål) or  Noreg (Nynorsk)), officially the Kingdom of Norway, is a sovereign and unitary monarchy whose territory comprises the western portion of the Scandinavian Peninsula plus the island Jan Mayen and the archipelago of Svalbard. The Antarctic Peter I Island and the sub-Antarctic Bouvet Island are dependent territories and thus not considered part of the Kingdom. Norway also lays claim to a section of Antarctica known as Queen Maud Land. Until 1814, the Kingdom included the Faroe Islands (since 1035), Greenland (1261), and Iceland (1262). It also included Shetland and Orkney until 1468.

Norway has a total area of 385,252 square kilometres (148,747 sq mi) and a population of 5,109,059 people (2014). The country shares a long eastern border with Sweden (1,619 km or 1,006 mi long). Norway is bordered by Finland and Russia to the north-east, and the Skagerrak Strait to the south, with Denmark on the other side. Norway has an extensive coastline, facing the North Atlantic Ocean and the Barents Sea.

Norway Pavilion at Epcot

The Norway Pavilion is a Norway-themed pavilion that is part of the World Showcase, within Epcot at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Its location is between the Mexican and Chinese Pavilions.

Layout

The 58,000-square-foot (5,400 m²) Norway Pavilion is designed to look like a Norwegian village. The village includes a detailed Stave church, and the exterior of its main table-service restaurant, Restaurant Akershus, resembles its namesake in Oslo. The exhibit showcases 4 styles of Norwegian architecture: Setesdal-style, Bergen-style, Oslo-style and Ålesund-style.

Much of the pavilion is taken up by interconnected shops. These shops are decorated with large wooden trolls and sell assorted Norwegian goods, including clothing, candy, and statuettes of Norse gods and trolls. The courtyard of the pavilion contains the entrance to Maelstrom, a boat ride into Norway's past and present. Kringla Bakeri og Kafé is a bakery, featuring assorted Norwegian pastries, such as cream horns and open-faced salmon sandwiches. The courtyard contains the entrance to Restaurant Akershus, featuring a hot and cold buffet and "Princess Storybook Dining."

Norway (song)

"Norway" is a song by American dream pop band Beach House, from their third studio album, Teen Dream. The song was released on January 18, 2010, with "Baby" as its B-side. The song was released as a free download on the band's site on November 17, 2009, before its commercial release.

"Norway" received very positive reviews from contemporary music critics. The song was chosen upon release as Pitchfork Media's "Best New Track". Aaron Leitko stated that, "'Norway', the lead track from Teen Dream, the duo's Sub Pop debut, raises the temperature a few degrees. A percussive intro yields to an explosion of twinkling guitars and a chorus of woozy backing vocals. The core elements of Beach House's sound-- the drum machine, the thrift store keyboards-- are still present; they're just a few ticks faster. This makes a big difference. As it turns out, Beach House goes from dour to exuberant in just a few BPM." Leitko continues by saying, "Legrand, whose vocals have been saddled with Nico comparisons, can finally breathe a sigh of relief, too. The 1960s chanteuse's shadow is nowhere to be found here. 'You let us in the wooden house/ To share in all the wealth,' sings Legrand over a carsick slide guitar riff. No, 'Norway' is radiant with the sunshiny 70s pop vibes. It's Stevie Nicks territory, for sure. Climate change has come to Beach House, and the weather suits them beautifully."
