TLC (group)

TLC is an American R&B girl group whose original recording line-up consisted of Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas. Formed in Atlanta, Georgia in 1990, the group was very successful during the 1990s and early 2000s in spite of numerous spats with the law, each other, and the group's record label and management. They scored ten top-ten hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including number-one singles "Creep", "Waterfalls", "No Scrubs" and "Unpretty". The group also recorded four platinum albums, including CrazySexyCool (1994) which still remains the only album by a female vocal group in history to receive diamond certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). TLC also became the first R&B group in history to receive Million certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) for FanMail (1999).

Having sold over 65 million records worldwide, TLC is the best-selling American girl group of all time.VH1 ranked TLC as the greatest female group, placing them at number 12 on the list of 100 Greatest Women in Music.Billboard magazine ranked TLC as one of the greatest musical trios, as well as the seventh most successful act of the 1990s. TLC accolades include five Grammy Awards, five MTV Video Music Awards and five Soul Train Music Awards.With meaningful lyrics and a memorable sound its no surprise to see how this female power trio rose to fame. Twenty years after their debut, TLC was honored with Outstanding Contribution to Music at the 17th MOBO Awards and Legend Award at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards Japan.

TLC (Netherlands)

TLC is a Dutch television channel which broadcasts lifestyle programmes. It airs programmes related to lifestyle, health, food, and reality shows. Its main target is the female audience. The channel launched on 4 July 2011 by Discovery Networks Benelux.

TLC initially aired from 6pm till 2am on the standard-definition channel of Animal Planet making this a time-sharing channel in the Netherlands. On 1 October 2012 TLC extended its air time from 3pm till 2am. TLC became a 24-hours channel on 8 January 2013. An HD-simulcast started through UPC Netherlands on 15 May 2013.

TLC (Asia)

TLC is a television channel available in South-East Asia, previously known as Discovery Travel & Living.

Plans to launch the channel first surfaced in 2000 when Discovery started working on expanding Discovery Travel & Adventure and Discovery Health to the Asian and Latin American markets.

The channel launched as Discovery Travel & Adventure in June 2001. It was the third channel launched by Discovery Networks in the region. When it launched, it was focused on providing travel-related entertainment.

On January 1, 2005, the channel was rebranded as Discovery Travel & Living and received new programming. This was part of a major action within Discovery Networks International to focus on lifestyle programming. The new schedules featured much cooking programmes and makeover shows.

On 1 September 2010, the channel was rebranded again into Discovery TLC Asia with international and local line ups. The new channel will be "bigger, better and bolder, featuring new places, genres, and faces." As of June 2011, TLC South East Asia has now split into four different channel feeds.

TLC (TV series)

TLC is a darkly surreal farce-like sitcom set in a fictional NHS hospital called South Middlesex. Written by Fintan Coyle, co-creator of hit game show Weakest Link, it was first broadcast on the BBC on 11 November 2002 and ran over six episodes until 16 December. There were some very mixed opinions on the show among both critics and viewers, but it achieved decent ratings and featured an excellent comedy cast including Richard Griffiths, Alexander Armstrong and The League of Gentlemen's Reece Shearsmith. The series was released on DVD in the UK on 29 October 2007.

The show never confirms what "TLC" stands for, although it is presumed to be a sarcastic reference to the widely used abbreviation for "Tender Loving Care", but could equally refer to the alternative yet related abbreviation "Total Lack of Concern".

Characters

Dr Laurence Flynn (Played by Reece Shearsmith): A very unfortunate young Surgical House Officer who's only just started his job at the hospital. He's still haunted by the fact that he failed his final medical exams first time round (something his co-workers will never let him forget) and is determined to redeem himself. He is neurotic, clumsy, lacking in self-confidence and generally just not cut out for his job, and, unfortunately for him, is not at all popular among the other staff at the hospital despite his best efforts to befriend them. As a result, the staff play a lot of very cruel and often sadistic practical jokes on him, (such as fooling him into trying to revive a dead patient, getting him sectioned under the mental health act, and giving him jabs for no reason at all) and poor Dr Flynn ends up teetering on the edge of sanity for most of the series. He often suffers from lack of sleep and ends up seeing and doing some very strange things as a result. He is madly in love with nurse Judy.

+/- (band)

+/-, or Plus/Minus, is an American indietronic band formed in 2001. The band makes use of both electronic and traditional instruments, and has sought to use electronics to recreate traditional indie rock song forms and instrumental structures. The group has released two albums on each of the American indie labels Teenbeat Records and Absolutely Kosher, and their track "All I do" was prominently featured in the soundtrack for the major film Wicker Park. The group has developed a devoted following in Japan and Taiwan, and has toured there frequently. Although many artists append bonus tracks onto the end of Japanese album releases to discourage purchasers from buying cheaper US import versions, the overseas versions of +/- albums are usually quite different from the US versions - tracklists can be rearranged, artwork with noticeable changes is used, and tracks from the US version can be replaced as well as augmented by bonus tracks.

!!! is a dance-punk band that formed in Sacramento, California, in 1996 by lead singer Nic Offer. Its name is most commonly pronounced "Chk Chk Chk" ([/tʃk.tʃk.tʃk/]). Members of !!! came from other local bands such as The Yah Mos, Black Liquorice and Popesmashers. They are currently based in New York City, Sacramento, and Portland, Oregon. The band's sixth full-length album, As If, was released in October 2015.

Background and history

!!! is an American band formed in the summer of 1995 by the merger of part of the group Black Liquorice and Popesmashers. After a successful joint tour, these two teams decided to mix the disco-funk with more aggressive sounds and integrate the hardcore singer Nic Offer from the The Yah Mos. The band's name was inspired by the subtitles of the movie The Gods Must Be Crazy, in which the clicking sounds of the Bushmens' Khoisan language were represented as "!". However, as the bandmembers themselves say, !!! is pronounced by repeating thrice any monosyllabic sound. "Chk Chk Chk" is the most common pronunciation, which the URL of their official website and the title of their Myspace page suggest is the preferred pronunciation.
