T.J. Maxx

T.J. Maxx, often styled T.J.Maxx, is an American department store chain. With more than 1,000 stores, T.J. Maxx is a major clothes retailer in the United States.

The company is part of the TJX Companies, which also owns HomeGoods/HomeSense, and 'off-price' retail chains Sierra Trading Post in the United States, Marshalls in the U.S. and Canada, and Winners in Canada. Under the name T.K. Maxx, its parent company TJX operates stores throughout the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Poland, Austria and The Netherlands. It offers men's, women's and children's apparel and shoes, as well as other areas such as toys, bath and beauty, accessories, and home products ranging from furniture to kitchen utensils.

T.J. Maxx and Marshalls operate as sister stores, and share a similar footprint throughout the country. While the two operate at near-identical price points and have similar store layouts, T.J. Maxx differentiates itself from Marshalls by having a more upscale appearance and typically features an expanded assortment of both fine jewelry and accessories. Some higher-volume stores feature a high-end designer department called The Runway.

The company is part of the TJX Companies, which also owns 'off-price' retail chains TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and HomeGoods, and Sierra Trading Post in the United States, and Marshalls (separate from the U.S. Marshalls chain), HomeSense, and Winners in Canada. It offers men's, women's and children's apparel and shoes, as well as other areas such as toys, bath and beauty, accessories, and home products ranging from furniture to kitchen utensils.

The CEO of TJX companies is Carol Meyrowitz.

History

In 1976, T.J. Maxx was founded in Framingham, Massachusetts by Bernard Cammarata, as a nameplate of the Zayre chain of discount department stores. When Zayre sold their own nameplate to Ames, a rival discount department store, Zayre was renamed as "TJX Companies, Incorporated".

Biography

After having already recorded a German cover version of Snow's "Informer", rapper Boris Köhler teamed up with the producer and songwriter Juergen Wind, Frank Hassas (Quickmix), David Brunner (Hitman) and Jeglitza to produce "Get-A-Way". Jeglitza moved on to other projects. Köhler, under the stage name of Gary B, performed the ragamuffin rap, and a female singer Samira Besic produced the vocals for the chorus. It was a dancefloor hit all over Europe, peaking at No. 11 at their home of Germany, while entering the top-5 in the UK, Austria, Sweden and the Netherlands, the single entered the top-10 in Switzerland and Norway. "Get-A-Way" eventually reached a Gold status in Germany for selling over 250,000, and in the UK, it was certified with a Silver-certification-award for selling over 200,000 units. Samira Besic, who had at the peak of Maxx's career left the act for a solo career, was replaced by Linda Meek now known as Elyse G.Rogers.

The Maxx

The Maxx is an American comic book series created by Sam Kieth and originally published monthly by Image Comics, then collected in trade paperback by DC Comic's Wildstorm imprint. Starting in November, 2013, it has been republished by IDW with new colors and improved scans of the original artwork by Sam Kieth and Jim Sinclair. The comic book, starring an eponymous purple hero, spawned an animated series on MTV. The first appearance of The Maxx was in Primer #5, published by Comico Comics.

The series follows the adventures of the titular hero in the real world and in an alternate reality, referred to as the Outback. In the real world, the Maxx is a vagrant, a "homeless man living in a box", while in the Outback, he is the powerful protector of the Jungle Queen. The Jungle Queen exists in the real world as Julie Winters, a freelance social worker who often bails the Maxx out of jail. While the Maxx is aware of the Outback, Julie is not, though it is integral to both of their stories.
