Tøyen (station)
Tøyen is a rapid transit station located in the Common Tunnel of Oslo Metro in Norway. Located in the borough of Gamle Oslo, it is also called "Tøyen-Munchmuseet" due to its proximity to the art museum. It is the last station on the east side shared by all lines; the Grorud Line and Ring Line departs from the other four lines at Tøyen. The station has three platforms, on the south side is a platform for all outbound trains. Across the tracks is another for inbound trains coming from Ensjø, and on the other side of this platform is a third one for inbound trains from Carl Berners plass.
The station was opened on 22 May 1966 as part of the new metro lines to the eastern boroughs of Oslo. Above the metro station is a shopping centre. Apart from the Munch Museum, there is a park north of the subway station with botanical gardens and paleontological, geological and zoological museums.
There is also a railway station, Tøyen Station, that is located on the Gjøvik Line, though this station is located 750 metres (2,460 ft) from the metro station.
Tøyen Station
Tøyen Station (Norwegian: Tøyen stasjon) is a railway station located in Oslo on the Gjøvik Line. It is located in the borough of Grünerløkka and is the first stop on the line after Oslo Central Station. The station was opened in 1904. It is a small unmanned station which is only served by local trains by NSB Gjøvikbanen. It is 4.45 km from Oslo S.
1400 meters from the railway station is the metro station with the same name, located on the Oslo Metro. There is no connection between the two stations.

Tøyen is a residential area in the central parts of Oslo, Norway, part of the borough of Gamle Oslo.
Location
It is noted for its high concentration of immigrants. The multicultural atmosphere makes Tøyen very trendy and popular with continually rising cost of housing. There are two different stations which carry the name Tøyen. Tøyen Railway Station is located on the railway Gjøvikbanen, while Tøyen T-bane Station on the shared stretch just east of the downtown area. The railway station is about 750 metres northeast of the subway station.

In 2012 Tøyen is known for its considerable social problems. One out of three children lives beneath poverty level. The school district counts less than 300 pupils, while the area has more than 1,000 council flats. 60% of the locals inhabit flats with only one or two rooms. When the capital's working class settled here in the late 1800eds, their lives were troubled by poverty, miserable housing conditions and alcohol. To some extent this is still the case. While flats at the fringes of Tøyen have been nicely upgraded in later years, the council flats around the centre are the first stop for newly arrived refugees. Traumatized families with several children are housed together with recently released criminals, while drug addicts and the mentally ill are expected to just get by, unaided, after lengthy stays in institutions.
