  • Mercury (mythology), a Roman god
  • Mercury may also refer to:

  • Transportation

  • Mercury (automobile), a marque of automobile produced by the Ford Motor Company (1938–2011)
  • Mercury (cyclecar), an American cyclecar from 1914
  • Mercury (planet)

Mercury is the smallest planet in the Solar System and the one closest to the Sun, with an orbital period of about 88 Earth days, which is much faster than any other planet in the Solar System. Seen from Earth, it appears to move around its orbit in about 116 days. It has no known natural satellites. It is named after the Roman deity Mercury, the messenger to the gods.

Partly because it has almost no atmosphere to retain heat, Mercury's surface temperature varies diurnally more than any other planet in the Solar System, ranging from 100 K (−173 °C; −280 °F) at night to 700 K (427 °C; 800 °F) during the day in some equatorial regions. The poles are constantly below 180 K (−93 °C; −136 °F). Mercury's axis has the smallest tilt of any of the Solar System's planets (about 130 of a degree). However, Mercury's orbital eccentricity is the largest of all known planets in the Solar System. At aphelion, Mercury is about 1.5 times as far from the Sun as it is at perihelion. Mercury's surface is heavily cratered and similar in appearance to the Moon, indicating that it has been geologically inactive for billions of years.

    Sweetness (Jimmy Eat World song)

"Sweetness" is a song by American alternative rock band Jimmy Eat World. It was released in June 2002 as the third single from their 2001 album, Bleed American. The song was also featured on the soundtrack for the EA Sports video game NHL 2003. It was originally written to appear on the album Clarity; the band played the song live many times during the Clarity tour, and a demo recording of it was included on the 2007 re-issue of Clarity.

    Critical reception

Like the rest of Bleed American, "Sweetness" was generally well received by critics. Punknews.org stated that "'Sweetness' is so unbelievably catchy, I'm having trouble coming up with an analogy to get it across."

    Music video

The video for "Sweetness" depicts the band performing the song in a bedroom while apparently recording demo cassette. Compositing and various forms of animation (including stop-motion, rotoscoping, and computer animation) were used to add surreal elements throughout the video, as well as to show the band performing in different locations: a bar, a concert, and a recording studio.

    One Fat Sucka

One Fat Sucka is the second live album by progressive rock band Umphrey's McGee. It was recorded at various concerts throughout the summer and fall of 2000. Most of the material contains brand new guitarist Jake Cinninger, who joined the band in September 2000. Two songs recorded before Cinninger joined, "Siddhartha" and "Wild Brumby," feature special guest Dr. Didg on didgeridoo. The album has been out of print since 2002 but was released in December 2009 as part of the CustUm Flash Drive that included the complete Umphrey's McGee discography.

    Yes (Yes album)

Yes is the first studio album from the English progressive rock band Yes, released in July 1969 on Atlantic Records. Recorded during their first year of their formation, the album displays the band's early musical direction of performing rearranged cover versions of songs by pop, jazz, and funk artists. Yes includes covers of "Every Little Thing" by The Beatles and "I See You" by The Byrds and original material, much of which was written by singer Jon Anderson.

Yes was not a commercial success upon release and failed to enter the UK chart, but it received a considerable amount of positive reviews from the UK and American press. "Sweetness" and "Looking Around" were released as singles which also failed to chart. Yes was remastered in 1994 and 2003; the latter contains several previously unreleased tracks including a rendition of "Something's Coming" from West Side Story.

    Overview

The original line-up of vocalist Jon Anderson, bassist Chris Squire, guitarist Peter Banks, keyboardist Tony Kaye, and drummer Bill Bruford remained intact for the album's recording.
