Viva (2007 film)

Viva is a 2007 American comedy-drama film directed by Anna Biller. It's a faithful homage to sexploitation films from the 1960s and 1970s, but with a feminist twist. The film has received mixed reactions, and "illustrates cinema’s unique ability to blend high and low culture."Viva premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival in 2007. It was also entered into the main competition at the 29th Moscow International Film Festival.Viva was released on DVD by Cult Epics on Feb. 24, 2009.

Viva Rapid Transit

Viva is a bus rapid transit service operating in York Region, Ontario, Canada. Viva service is integrated with York Region Transit's local bus service to operate as one regional transit system providing seamless transit service across York Region with connections to northern Toronto.

Viva was designed and built using a public-private partnership (P3) model. York Region partnered with York Consortium, which comprises seven private sector firms with international experience in transit design, architecture, construction and operations. Under the terms of the partnership agreement, public sector responsibilities include establishing fare policies and service levels, ownership of all assets, and control of revenues and funding. Private sector responsibilities include providing professional staffing and procurement support, assuming risk on all approved budgets and schedules, and assisting York Region in its funding and financing requirements.

Viva opened in stages commencing September 6, 2005. The second stage opened on October 16, 2005, the third on November 20, 2005, the fourth on January 2, 2006, and the fifth on January 27, 2008.

WRDG

WRDG 96.7 FM, "Radio 105.7", is an Atlanta radio station broadcasting an alternative rock radio format. It is owned by iHeartMedia and is licensed to serve Peachtree City, Georgia. The station currently simulcasts with WRDA 105.7. It operates from studios located at the Peachtree Palisades building in the Brookwood Hills district of Atlanta, and the transmitter is located in Tyrone.

History

1985-2005

96.7 began in April 1985 as WBUS, then became WWER in March 1987. Just a few months later, it became WMKJ in November 1987, staying there for well over a decade. In October 2000, it became Rhythmic Top 40 WLDA (WiLD Atlanta), branded as "Wild 96.7". This lasted for only a year, becoming WXVV in October 2001.

The station was WBZY-FM, "96.7 the Buzz" from April 2002 to 2005. In May 2005, the Buzz was moved to 105.3 (and then to WKLS FM 96.1 as "Project 9-6-1"). It was then WVWA-FM ("Viva 96.7"), a simulcast in south metro Atlanta of north metro's WWVA-FM "Viva 105.7" (formerly "Viva 105.3"). (Although this was the first time this broadcast callsign had actually been legally assigned , it had been previously used in a famous parody of radio, see links).

Silence (TV series)

Silence (traditional Chinese: 深情密碼; simplified Chinese: 深情密码; pinyin: Shen Qing Mi Ma) is a 2006 Taiwanese drama starring Vic Chou of F4, Korean actress Park Eun-hye, Cantopop singer Andy Hui and Kingone Wang. It was produced by Comic Ritz International Production (可米瑞智國際藝能有限公司) and Chai Zhi Ping (柴智屏) and Hsiao Yi (蕭定一) as producers and directed by Zhang Zhong (張中一)

It was first broadcast in Taiwan on free-to-air China Television (CTV) (中視) from 21 May 2006 to 24 September 2006, on Sundays at 22:00. It was also shown on cable TV Eastern Television (ETTV) (東森電視).

Synopsis

Qi Wei Yi (Vic Chou), an ambitious but lonely businessman whose only moment of happiness took place 13 years ago with a mute girl, "Zhao Shen Shen" Park Eun-hye. When he was 15, he won a swimming competition and broke his leg, resulting in the alias "Plastered Leg". Zhao Shen Shen ditched school one day with her next-door neighbor, Zuo Jun, and got into a bus accident. She has been mute ever since. One day, on her way to the hospital, Shen Shen's mom gets hit by a car and doesn't survive. Wei Yi and Shen Shen both feel lonely so they send and receive messages at an abandoned bomb shelter. After a while, they meet each other and start communicating. Wei Yi does not know about Shen Shen's accident which caused her to be mute; he just thinks that Shen Shen does not like to speak. After a week of happiness, Wei Yi finds out that he has to go to England to study and transfer hospitals. A doctor helps Wei Yi see Shen Shen one more time, and he hurriedly writes down his phone number for Shen Shen.

Silence (2016 film)

Silence is an upcoming historical drama film directed by Martin Scorsese and written by Jay Cocks, based upon the novel of the same name by Shusaku Endo. The film stars Andrew Garfield, Adam Driver, Liam Neeson, Tadanobu Asano, and Ciarán Hinds. It is anticipated to be released in 2016.

Development

The film is considered a "passion project" of Scorsese's, and has been in development since 1991. In 2009, Silence was in the early stages of development but then entered a state of hiatus, with Scorsese deciding to work on Shutter Island and Hugo instead.

Barfi!

Barfi! is a 2012 Indian romantic comedy-drama film directed, written and co-produced by Anurag Basu. Set in the 1970s, the film depicts the story of Murphy "Barfi" Johnson (a mute and deaf Nepali boy from Darjeeling) and his relationships with two women, Shruti and Jhilmil (who is autistic). The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, and Ileana D'Cruz in the lead roles, with Saurabh Shukla, Ashish Vidyarthi, Jisshu Sengupta and Roopa Ganguly in supporting roles.

Made on a budget of approximately ₹30 crore (US$4.4 million), Barfi! opened worldwide on 14 September 2012. The film was a major box-office success, becoming one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of 2012 in India and overseas, and was declared a "Super Hit" after its three-week run by Box Office India. The film went on to gross ₹1.75 billion (US$26 million) worldwide.

The film was selected as India's official entry for the Best Foreign Language Film nomination for the 85th Academy Awards. Barfi won several awards and nominations at various award ceremonies across India. At the 58th Filmfare Awards, the film received thirteen nominations including Best Actress for Chopra and won seven (more than any other film) including Best Film, Best Actor for Kapoor and Best Music Director for Pritam.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is an American franchise which spans several media and genres. It began in 1992 with the film Buffy the Vampire Slayer, written by Joss Whedon and directed by Fran Rubel Kuzui, and was resurrected as the television series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer in 1997. The show's popularity caused it to spawn a multitude of Expanded Universe tie-in material such as comic books, novels, and video games, as well as a spin-off program entitled Angel. Amanda

Amanda is a Potential Slayer who appears in Season Seven, played by Sarah Hagan. A Sunnydale High student and member of the swing choir, she first appears in the episode "Help" as part of the seemingly-random stream of students showing up at Buffy's guidance office. Amanda was sent to Buffy for beating up another student who was picking on her. In the later episode "Potential", it is revealed that Amanda is in fact a Potential Slayer, and she aptly slays a vampire who threatens her and Dawn. Afterwards, Amanda moves into the Summers' residence, where she trains and becomes friends with her fellow Potentials. In the final episode of the show, "Chosen", Amanda is activated as a Slayer along with the other Potentials and battles against an army of Turok-Han vampires. She is last seen falling to the ground dead after her neck was snapped by a Turok-Han. She was the first Potential to kill a vampire and the first one to kill a Turok-Han.
