Lacey started singing when she was 16 years old. A few years later, she began working as a backing singer to the band "Falling Man". However, she felt the need to develop her songwriting capabilities in her own right, so she left the band, but yet teamed up with one of its members. They recorded several songs and had interest from both Virgin and EMI, but broke up soon after. Lacey joined "Frankenstein’s Baby", an indie/folk band. They recorded several songs, and performed regularly at the "Mean Fiddler".
Sweet Memories (also known as Sweet Memories of Yesterday and Sweetheart Days) is a 1911 silent short romantic drama film, written and directed by Thomas H. Ince, released by the Independent Moving Pictures Company on March 27, 1911.
Polly Biblett (Mary Pickford), a young lady, tells her grandmother Lettie about her new boyfriend. The news provokes the elderly woman to reminisce about her own sweetheart, long time before. The touching sequence expresses the power of lives going on, the older woman aging as her grandchildren grow and knowing they will soon have children of their own.
Sweet Memories is a compilation album by singer Mickey Newbury released on MCA Records. It was released during a period of inactivity for the songwriter, who had not recorded since 1981.
Although Newbury had cemented his place as a songwriting legend, having been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame on October 12, 1980, and had recorded some of the most original albums of the 1970s, his profile as a recording artist had sunk to an all-time low by the middle of the 1980s. Although his previous two albums - The Sailor (1979) and After All These Years (1981) - had featured a more contemporary sound than his earlier, more atmospheric studio albums, they did not dent the charts, and he would not release another album until 1988. He was not completely inactive during this period, appearing on the Bobby Bare and Friends television show in 1983 and also participating on the Canadian program In Session with friend Larry Gatlin the same year. He also toured Australia in 1984 and sang "Sweet Memories" during a "guitar pull" as part of the television special The Door Is Always Open hosted by Waylon Jennings. However, Newbury was disenchanted with the music business, especially after Wesley Rose, who controlled the publishing rights to 300 Newbury's compositions, sold the Acuff-Rose publishing company to Opryland USA for $22 million in 1985. Adding to his woes, the IRS came after Newbury as well. "All that came together at one time...So I wasted what should have been the best years of my life just fightin' off the wolves," he later remarked. "Plus I was old...Nobody wanted me anymore."

VERSE 1:
You keep tellin me hopes and dreams
Of the things that would and cannot be
I can't stand these lies
As I sit and try to listen to your alibis
But you couldn't hear me cry
I tried to do my best but I guess it wasn't good enough for you
Now there's no loving left
And I realize there's nothing else that I can do
CHORUS:
All I have are the memories of the way it used to be
All I have are the memories of the way it used to be
Sweet memories of the way we used to be
VERSE 2:
We used to communicate
Now it seems you have no time and you said our love was fake
But you don't seem to understand
That the love we had was strong cause you used to be my man
Baby I need some love I can feel
You just abandoned me and left me here with memories
CHORUS
All I have are the memories of the way it used to be
All I have are the memories of the way it used to be
Sweet memories of the way we used to be
