Lady, Lady

"Lady, Lady" (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈleiði, ˈleiði]) was the Spanish entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1984, performed in Spanish by the quartet Bravo.

The song is a melancholy mid-tempo ballad, with lead singer Amaya Saizar telling the story of the titular "Lady", a woman who lost her loved one "and her youth a thousand years ago", yet every evening she waits patiently for his return. The "Lady", in "her grey sun hat, her starch dress", her "Jasmine perfume" and "blue eye make-up" wastes her life waiting and lives "in her crystal world".

The song was performed fourth on the night (following France's Annick Thoumazeau with "Autant d'amoureux que d'étoiles" and preceding Norway's Dollie de Luxe with "Lenge Leve Livet"). At the close of voting, it had received 106 points, placing 3rd in a field of 19.

The song was a great commercial success in Spain, reaching number one at the Los 40 Principales playlist.

It was succeeded as Spanish representative at the 1985 Contest by Paloma San Basilio with "La fiesta terminó".

Lady!!

Lady!! (レディ!!, Redi!!) is a Japanese shōjo manga by Youko Hanabusa. It was published by Akita Shoten in the magazine Hitomi Comics from 1987 to 1993 and collected in 12 tankoubon volumes. The manga series was adapted into two anime television series, entitled, Lady Lady!! and its sequel Hello! Lady Lynn, produced by Toei Animation Co., Ltd.

The first season of the anime series, entitled Lady Lady!! (レディレディ!!, Redi Redi!!) consists of 21 episodes and was aired from October 21, 1987 to March 23, 1988 on TBS. It is a standard anime series that has some similarities with the Candy Candy tradition.

Summary

Young Lynn and her mother travel from Japan to meet Lynn's father, Viscount Marble, who lives in England. On their way to the Marble Mansion, Lynn and her mother get into a tragic car accident in which Lynn's mother loses her life. When Lynn wakes up in the hospital, the truth about her mother's death is kept as a secret from her since her father cannot bear to bring her such grief.

Soon after Lynn moves to her father's care to the Marble Mansion where she encounters a miscellaneous cast of servants, most of who are charmed by Lynn's adorableness. Lynn also finds out that she isn't the only child of Viscount Marble – she meets her elder half sister Sarah, whose mother has also died. At first Sarah seems cold and distant towards her, because she fears that Lynn's open and cheerful personality will win over the attention of their father as well as the two handsome young Brighton brothers who live nearby.

Sweet Lady is the second single released from Tyrese's first studio album Tyrese. The single reached #12 on the Hot 100 and #9 on the R&B charts. The song stayed on the Hot 100 charts for a total of twenty five weeks.

Monty Alexander

Monty Alexander (born Montgomery Bernard Alexander on 6 June 1944 in Kingston, Jamaica) is a jazz pianist, who also sings and plays the melodica. His playing has a Caribbean influence and bright swinging feeling, with a strong vocabulary of bebop and soulful blues melodies. He was influenced by Oscar Peterson, Les McCann, Ahmad Jamal, and Wynton Kelly. Alexander is known for his surprise musical twists and the ability to build dramatic suspense in his playing.

Biography

Alexander discovered the piano when he was four years old, took classical music lessons at the age of six and became interested in jazz piano at the age of 14, and began playing in clubs, and on recording sessions by Clue J & His Blues Blasters, deputising for Aubrey Adams, whom he describes as his hero, when he was unable to play. Two years later, he directed a dance orchestra (Monty and the Cyclones) and played in the local clubs. Performances at the Carib Theater in Jamaica by Louis Armstrong and Nat King Cole left a strong impression on the young pianist.
