Sweetness

Sweetness is one of the five basic tastes and is universally regarded as a pleasurable experience, except perhaps in excess. Foods rich in simple carbohydrates such as sugar are those most commonly associated with sweetness, although there are other natural and artificial compounds that are sweet at much lower concentrations, allowing their use as non-caloric sugar substitutes. Examples of foods that may be used as non-sugar sweet substitutes include saccharin, aspartame, acesulfame potassium, sucralose, xylitol, erythritol, and stevia. Other compounds, such as miraculin, may alter perception of sweetness itself.

The chemosensory basis for detecting sweetness, which varies between both individuals and species, has only begun to be understood since the late 20th century. One theoretical model of sweetness is the multipoint attachment theory, which involves multiple binding sites between a sweetness receptor and a sweet substance.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is an American franchise which spans several media and genres. It began in 1992 with the film Buffy the Vampire Slayer, written by Joss Whedon and directed by Fran Rubel Kuzui, and was resurrected as the television series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer in 1997. The show's popularity caused it to spawn a multitude of Expanded Universe tie-in material such as comic books, novels, and video games, as well as a spin-off program entitled Angel. In 2007, four years after the television series' seventh and final season, Buffy the Vampire Slayer was officially continued in the comic book Season Eight. The following is a list of minor recurring characters who appear in the franchise.

Amanda

Amanda is a Potential Slayer who appears in Season Seven, played by Sarah Hagan. A Sunnydale High student and member of the swing choir, she first appears in the episode "Help" as part of the seemingly-random stream of students showing up at Buffy's guidance office. Amanda was sent to Buffy for beating up another student who was picking on her. In the later episode "Potential", it is revealed that Amanda is in fact a Potential Slayer, and she aptly slays a vampire who threatens her and Dawn. Afterwards, Amanda moves into the Summers' residence, where she trains and becomes friends with her fellow Potentials. In the final episode of the show, "Chosen", Amanda is activated as a Slayer along with the other Potentials and battles against an army of Turok-Han vampires. She is last seen falling to the ground dead after her neck was snapped by a Turok-Han. She was the first Potential to kill a vampire and the first one to kill a Turok-Han.

Sweet (Ken Mellons album)

Sweet is the fourth studio album released by American country music artist Ken Mellons. Released in 2004, it contains the song "Paint Me a Birmingham", which was also recorded by Tracy Lawrence and released as a single. Mellons's rendition was also released shortly before Lawrence's. "Smack Dab" was previously recorded by George Jones on his 1998 album It Don't Get Any Better Than This.

Heidi.

Heidi. (stylized as heidi.) is a Japanese visual kei rock band formed in Tokyo in February 2006. They gained popularity after performing at the hide memorial summit on May 4, 2008 to tens of thousands of people. Their third album was released in Europe by Gan-Shin records in 2009 and the following year Heidi. signed to major label Geneon Universal Entertainment.

History

Heidi.'s first one-man show, titled 「Birth・Day」, was on June 3, 2006. Their first single, "Yuuyake to Kodomo/Maria", was also sold at that show. The following year they released their debut album, Kasou, on April 25, 2007. The label was their own O Market, which was formed by their management Headwax Organization, who also managed hide, being run by his brother Hiroshi Matsumoto.

On May 4, 2008, they performed at the hide memorial summit alongside legendary bands such as X Japan, Luna Sea and others. On September 21, 2008, D'erlanger held Abstinence's Door #002, where Heidi., Inoran and Merry performed.

In 2009, Heidi. went on a three-man tour called Counter Culture with lynch. and Sadie. They released their third album, Panorama, on September 23. It received a European release by Gan-Shin records on October 23. On October 25, the band performed at V-Rock Festival '09, which was broadcast live worldwide on its official website.

Heidi (1995 film)

Originally released directly to video in 1995, Heidi is a 49-minute animated film based on the classic story of Heidi by Johanna Spyri. The movie was produced by Jetlag Productions and it was distributed to DVD in 2002 by GoodTimes Entertainment, as part of their "Collectible Classics" line.

Story

The story begins when Heidi, a little five-year-old girl, is brought up to the Swiss Alps by her Aunt Dete, who took care of the little girl ever since the passing of her two parents. Dete leaves Heidi with her grandfather, who lives alone up in the mountains, and though at first the old man refuses, Dete insists and he finally agrees to take her in but sends Dete away discourteously. Heidi's sweet, innocent nature slowly wins the heart of her grandfather and they soon grow fond of each other. Heidi wonders about every aspect of her new life in the mountains and has questions about all sorts of things. She befriends Peter, a young boy slightly older than she, whose job it is to lead the many goats up to the mountains every day. However, just as Heidi decides that she could never love anything more than life up in the mountains, Dete returns to take her away from her grandfather and to the city of Frankfurt in Germany, where she expects the girl to serve as a companion for the Sessemann's invalid daughter Clara. Though she misses her grandfather and the goats dearly, once in Frankfurt, Heidi becomes the best of friends with Clara and is saddened by her inability to walk. After many conflicts with Madam Rottenmeier, the strict care-taker at the Sesseman's, at her birthday party, Clara gives Heidi what she thinks she wants most: a train ticket to Switzerland, to her grandfather and old friends. Another surprise awaits Heidi and her grandfather as Clara and her grandmother come to visit them up at their home in the mountains.

Heidi (2005 live-action film)

Heidi (not to be confused with the animated film released in the same year) is a 2005 British family film directed by Paul Marcus. It is based on the iconic novel Heidi by Johanna Spyri, and stars Irish child actress Emma Bolger in the title role, alongside Max Von Sydow and Diana Rigg.
