"Swag It Out" is the official debut single by American singer Zendaya, known for starring in the series Shake It Up. The song was composed by Bobby Brackins and was released on May 30, 2011 as the first single of Zendaya's career on an independent label, not being included on any album or soundtrack of Walt Disney Records, just their record label.
Composition and release
The song was composed by Zendaya. According to Zendaya, the song is about the band's self-esteem. About the concept of the song Zendaya says: "To me, the concept is about loving yourself and life, being the best you can be and being the best at what you do in life, having confidence, and not letting others get you down. Everyone can Swag It Out! Swag is an attitude".
Critical reception
The website Hollywood Teenzine evaluated positively the song, saying it was "positive, fun, young and awesome to dance, the kind that makes you smile", ending by saying that the band would be a big gamble to the summer American. Sarie, the Black Celeb Kids said Zendaya demonstrated that the song can explore all options in addition to acting, singing and dancing as well, saying that the song is infectious.
