Susan Peters

Susan Peters (July 3, 1921 – October 23, 1952) was an American stage, film and television actress.

Early life

Peters was born Suzanne Carnahan in Spokane, Washington, the elder of two children born to Robert and Abby Carnahan. Her father was a civil engineer of Irish descent while her mother was of French descent. Shortly after her birth, the Carnahan family moved to Portland, Oregon. In 1933, Robert Carnahan was killed in a car accident and the family moved to Los Angeles to live with Peters' maternal grandmother. (Another source says, "... she and her mother came to Hollywood when Suzanne was still an infant.")

Peters was educated at Laird Hall School for Girls, the LaRue School in Azusa, California, and Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy. "Susan, during her years in high school, worked after hours in a Los Angeles department store, earning money to help the family." While in her senior year at Hollywood High School, Peters began taking drama classes and signed with an agent. After graduating in June 1939, she won a scholarship to the Max Reinhardt School of Dramatic Arts. While performing in a showcase at the school, she was spotted by a talent scout for Warner Bros. and given a screen test. Warner Bros. signed Peters to a contract.

Susan Peters (born in Foothill Farms, California) is a Republican who serves on the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors. Supervisor Peters has served on the Board since January 4, 2005.

Background

A businesswoman before joining the Board of Supervisors, Supervisor Peters began her career in banking where she served as Assistant Vice President of Wells Fargo Bank and Senior Vice President of Commerce Savings Bank. She later worked at McCuen Properties which was the company of her late husband. She served as treasurer for the company. The company helped with the redeveloping of Sacramento Central Library block, erecting the Ziggurat building in West Sacramento, and managing the successful reuse of Mather Air Force Base into the now thriving Mather Commerce Center.

Issues

While serving on Sacramento Board of Supervisors, Susan Peters voted in favor of a "Physical Contact" ordinance restricting entertainment where a performer is closer than six feet to the audience. Opponents of this ordinance argued that it would be found unconstitutional if challenged. This effectively shut down two topless dancing bars which had been operating peacefully in her district for over a decade.

Susan Peters (born September 27) is a main anchor on KAKE-TV, the ABC affiliate in Wichita, Kansas. She has won regional Emmy awards for her reporting in both California and Kansas.

In January 2007, this Wikipedia article on Peters was featured on the national public radio program Weekend America. The discussion revolved around whether the article on Wikipedia should be deleted based upon Wikipedia's notability guidelines. The result of the AfD in question was keep, and Weekend America announced it as such.

An MSNBC.com investigation into partisan journalists/newspersons who donate to political parties and causes, Peters was found to have donated to a liberal organization with ties to the Democratic party.

Early life and career

Susan Peters was born into a military family of Idoma extraction on May 30, 1980 in Ado Local Government Area, Benue State in central Nigeria. Her family moved around Nigeria extensively and, as a consequence, she speaks several Nigerian languages. Susan was sent to Airforce nursery and primary schools and FGG College in Wuse, Abuja. She went on to study Computer Science at Asman English School, graduating in 1998. Later, she studied TV and Film at Video Waves and Camera Film School and graduated in 2002. There, according to her official biography, she finished Best Overall Female in her class. She started acting in Nollywood movies in 2002, the same year that she graduated. The following year she began modelling and appeared in billboards, TV commercials, press ads and handbills for companies such as BAT (British America Tobacco), Fidelity Bank, Bank P.H.B., Golden Penny Pasta, U.H.F. Long Life Milk, Haemeron Blood Tonic and Finbank.
