Jennifer Serrano

Jennifer Serrano, better known as Jenny, is a Spanish singer.

She was born in Mieres, Asturias, Spain, and is a student of music under Helen Rowson in Barcelona. She is a new artist in both Spain and Andorra, with no previous commercial success in either country. Previously, she was a waitress. Jenny performed in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 for Andorra, singing the song "Sense Tu", written by Rafael Artesero. The song was competing in the semi-finals and for a place in the finals on 20 May, out of the 23 nations competing, Jenny finished last collecting just 8 points, all from Spain, thus not qualifying for the finals.

Jenny is a novel by the Norwegian writer Sigrid Undset, published in 1911, and regarded as Undset's literary breakthrough. The novel is set in Rome and later in Norway. The protagonist "Jenny Winge" tries to make a career as a painter. Being the lover of her fiancé's father results in a child, who dies shortly after the birth. She later commits suicide.

Christina Crawford (born June 11, 1939) is an American writer and actress, best known as the author of Mommie Dearest, an autobiographical account of alleged child abuse by her adoptive mother, famous Hollywood actress Joan Crawford. She is also known for small roles in various television and film projects, such as Joan Borman Kane in the soap opera The Secret Storm and Monica George in the Elvis Presley vehicle Wild in the Country.

Early life and education

Crawford was born in Los Angeles, California, in 1939 to unmarried teen parents.

According to Christina Crawford's personal interview with Larry King, her father supposedly in the Navy, was married to another woman while her mother was unmarried. Christina Crawford was adopted from a baby broker in the state of Nevada because Joan Crawford was formerly denied an adoption by Social Services for being an unfit candidate in California in 1940. Christina Crawford maintains that Joan Crawford did not have a positive relationship with her own mother or with her brother, which contributed to Social Services' conclusion, as well as her multiple divorces. Subsequent documentation showed that the adoption was handled by Georgia Tann through Tann's infamous Tennessee Children's Home Society. Christina was one of five children adopted by Joan Crawford.

Survivor (horse)

Survivor was an American Thoroughbred racehorse. He was foaled in Kentucky in 1870 and is best known as the winner of the first running of the Preakness Stakes in 1873 at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. Survivor's record winning margin of 10 lengths lasted for 131 years until Smarty Jones won in 2004 by 11¹⁄₂ lengths during his bid for the Triple Crown.

Survivor (Palahniuk novel)

Survivor is a satirical novel by Chuck Palahniuk, first published in February 1999. The book tells the story of Tender Branson, a member of the Creedish Church, a death cult. The chapters and pages are numbered backwards in the book, beginning with Chapter 47 on page 289 and ending with page 1 of Chapter 1.

Plot overview

In the book, every member of the Creedish Cult learns how to be a servant for the human race—most of them are butlers and maids—and fear most human pleasures. They await a sign from God to tell them to deliver themselves unto Him; that is, they must commit suicide.

The sign finally comes, and a good ten years later, Tender becomes the last surviving member of the cult. He is thrown into mainstream culture and becomes a personal icon for many people.

Plot summary

Tender Branson sits in the cockpit of a Boeing 747-400, telling his life story to the black box. He is alone in the plane, having hijacked it; he has released all of the plane's passengers and crew prior to this point. He explains the events leading up to the hijacking.
