Suriya

Suriya (born Saravanan Sivakumar on 23 July 1975) is an Indian film actor, producer, philanthropist and television presenter, who is currently working in the Tamil film industry. After making his debut in Nerukku Ner (1997), Suriya went on to feature in several critical and commercial successes, most notably Nandha (2001), Kaakha Kaakha (2003), Pithamagan (2003), Perazhagan (2004), Ghajini (2005), Vaaranam Aayiram (2008), Ayan (2009), Singam (2010), and Singam II (2013). As of 2010, he has won three Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and three Filmfare Awards South. He is also a recipient of Kalaimamani award in 2005. He was listed #33 in Forbes India's "Celebrity 100 List" for the year 2013. He owns the production house 2D Entertainment.

He is the eldest son of Tamil film actor Sivakumar and his younger brother Karthi is also an actor. Suriya married actress Jyothika in 2006, after being engaged for several years. In 2008, he began Agaram Foundation, which funds for various philanthropic activities. The year 2012 marked his debut as a television presenter with the popular STAR Vijay gaming show Neengalum Vellalam Oru Kodi, Tamil version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?.

As per 2011 Census of India Sariya CD Block had a total population of 149,068, of which 130,115 were rural and 18,933 were urban. There were 76,936 males and 73,132 females. Scheduled Castes numbered 18,907 and Scheduled Tribes numbered 4,355.

It had a population (2001 census) of 115,000.

Literacy

As per 2011 census the total number of literates in Sariya CD Block was 80,489 out of which 50,520 were males and 29,969 were females.

S.O.A.P. (band)

S.O.A.P. were a Danish pop music duo made up of the two sisters Heidi "Suriya" Sørensen (born October 18, 1979) and Saseline "Line" Sørensen (born July 26, 1982). Their music was primarily written by Remee and produced by Holger Lagerfeldt for Sony Music Entertainment Denmark. They released two albums before they disbanded in 2002. They are best known for their single "This Is How We Party", and sold almost 2 million albums worldwide.

History

Heidi and Saseline were born in the state of Perak in Malaysia though were raised in Næstved, along with their younger brother Daniel. Their father is Danish and their mother is Malaysian. Heidi met Remee when she interviewed him for the youth magazine she worked for. Her father, who had accompanied her to the interview, mentioned to Remee that Heidi was a singer. Remee asked Heidi to sing on a solo album with him, however, she stated that she would not do anything without her sister. Remee subsequently withdrew his offer, though approached the girls a year later stating he wanted to produce an album with both of them. The sisters chose the name S.O.A.P. because they thought it was fun, although it did not stand for anything. Heidi and Saseline once held a competition for their fans to come up with a backronym. "Sisters Organising A Party" was one of their favourite choices, though they were unimpressed by the "countless unsavoury submissions".
