Earth Policy Institute

Earth Policy Institute is an independent non-profit environmental organization based in Washington, D.C. in the United States. It was founded by Lester R. Brown in 2001 and functions as an environmental think tank, providing research and analysis on environmental indicators and making policy and lifestyle recommendations aimed at promoting environmental and economic sustainability.

Cited by environmental advocates, as well as policymakers and journalists alike, the Institute is a nonprofit that provides articles, data resources, and select free downloads of their books on their website.

In June 2015, the Institute announced that, with Brown's retirement, it would close its doors at the end of the month.

Description

The Earth Policy Institute functions as a think-tank, providing policy research and recommendations on sustainable development and living, as well as on environmental issues.

EPI’s goals are (1) to provide a global plan for moving the world onto an environmentally and economically sustainable path, (2) to provide examples demonstrating how the plan would work, and (3) to keep the media, policymakers, academics, environmentalists, and other decision-makers focused on the process of building a Plan B economy.

Plan (film)

Plan is a Bollywood action thriller film released in January 2004, starring Sanjay Dutt, Priyanka Chopra, Dino Morea and Sameera Reddy. It was produced by Sanjay Gupta and directed by Hriday Shetty, the film was a rage and did exceptionally well at the single screens of India whilst not performing too well at the multiplex cinemas overall the film was given the hit verdict and stands as the seventh highest grossing hindi film of 2004. This film is loosely based on the 1997 Hollywood comedy Suicide Kings.

Plot

Four individuals, from different walks of life, meet on a train destined towards Mumbai. They are Bobby (Dino Morea), Omi (Rohit Roy), Lucky (Sanjay Suri) and Jai (Bikram Saluja). They immediately become friends as they are alone, and only Jai has someone to live with.

Bobby dreams of becoming an Actor like Amitabh Bachchan. Omi needs to get back some money from a person who borrowed it from his father. Lucky was an expert gambler in his village, and intends to test his luck in Mumbai. Jai wants to regain his lost love.

Planē (mythology)

Planē or Plane (Ancient Greek: Πλάνη, pronounced "pla-neh"), in ancient Greek religion, was an abstract goddess, the personification of the concept of error (her name deriving from the Greek term for 'wandering' [see planet ] ). Though her mythology is obscure, it is known that she was present at the musical competition between the god Apollo and the satyr Marsyas. She is depicted in that scene, looking on in horror at the sight of Marsyas about to be flayed for losing, in a few 4th century mosaics in the House of Aion in Nea Paphos.

Planē (or Plane) is also referred to, as an abstract concept, in Christian and Gnostic philosophy.

457 plan

The 457 plan is a type of nonqualified,tax advantaged deferred-compensation retirement plan that is available for governmental and certain non-governmental employers in the United States. The employer provides the plan and the employee defers compensation into it on a pre-tax basis. For the most part the plan operates similarly to a 401(k) or 403(b) plan most people are familiar with in the US. The key difference is that unlike with a 401(k) plan, there is no 10% penalty for withdrawal before the age of 59½ (although the withdrawal is subject to ordinary income taxation). 457 plans (both governmental and non-governmental) can also allow independent contractors to participate in the plan where 401(k) and 403(b) plans cannot.

Super!

Super! is an Italian television channel owned by De Agostini. The channel was launched on September 1, 2010 as DeA Super on Sky Italia. After 2 years, it changed name to Super! on March 18, 2012. The network official speaker is voice actor Renato Novara.

Programming

Super! shows a variety of programs targeted towards children and teenagers. There are a number of original series, as well as acquired programming from Nickelodeon in the United States, including Sam & Cat, Zoey 101, Fanboy and Chum Chum, and more. Some acquired series on Super! are not Nickelodeon's, like SciGirls.

Super! was the first Italian television channel airing a Korean drama, Dream High, from September 1 to October 16, 2013, the only Korean television series broadcast in Italy. However, the series was heavily edited, and dubbed into Italian, names were changed to English alternatives (for example, Hye-mi became Sam, Sam-dong Brian, and Jin-guk Dylan), episodes split in two parts, some scenes cut to reduce the duration of the episodes or to censor the content unsuitable for young audiences, mainly blood. And finally a new Digimon series called Digimon Adventure tri.

Super (2010 American film)

Super is a 2010 American superhero dark comedy-drama film written and directed by James Gunn, starring Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, Liv Tyler, Kevin Bacon and Nathan Fillion. The film premiered at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival and was released in theaters in the United States on April 1, 2011 and on video on demand on April 13, 2011. The film was released unrated in U.S. theaters, and later received an R rating for its DVD/Blu-ray release.

Plot

Short-order cook Frank Darbo (Rainn Wilson) says in voice-over that he has only two good memories from a disappointing life: marrying his beautiful wife, Sarah (Liv Tyler), and an incident in which he directed a police officer to catch a purse snatcher. Frank immortalizes these two events in a pair of crayon drawings that he hangs on his wall for inspiration.

Later, Sarah, a recovering addict, leaves Frank for Jacques (Kevin Bacon), a charismatic strip club owner who gets her hooked on drugs. Frank sinks into depression, where he has a vision in which he is touched by the finger of God and meets the Holy Avenger (Nathan Fillion), a superhero from a public-access television show on the All-Jesus Network, who tells Frank that God has chosen him for a very special purpose. Frank believes that God has chosen him to become a superhero and goes to a local comic book store for inspiration. His claim that he is designing a new superhero is met with enthusiastic appreciation from the foul-mouthed store clerk, Libby (Ellen Page). Frank creates a superhero costume and assumes the identity of "The Crimson Bolt."
