Sunrise (company)

Sunrise Inc. (株式会社サンライズ, Kabushiki-gaisha Sanraizu) is a Japanese animation studio and production enterprise. It is a subsidiary of Bandai Namco Holdings. Its former name was Nippon Sunrise, and prior to that, Sunrise Studios. Its headquarters is located in Suginami, Tokyo.

Among Japan's largest and most famous studios, Sunrise is renowned for several critically lauded and popular original anime series, such as Gundam, Cowboy Bebop, Space Runaway Ideon, Armored Trooper Votoms, Yoroiden Samurai Troopers, Future GPX Cyber Formula, Crush Gear Turbo, The Vision of Escaflowne, Witch Hunter Robin, My-HiME, My-Otome, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, Tiger & Bunny, as well as its numerous adaptations of acclaimed light novels including Dirty Pair, Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere and Accel World, and manga such as City Hunter, InuYasha, Outlaw Star, Yakitate!! Japan, Planetes, Keroro Gunso, Gin Tama and several others.

Many of Sunrise's original anime include similar themes, including mecha, masked identities, and fluid animation. Anime created by Sunrise that have won the Animage Anime Grand Prix prize are Mobile Suit Gundam in 1979 and the first half of 1980, Space Runaway Ideon in the second half of 1980, Crusher Joe (co-production with Studio Nue) in 1983, Dirty Pair in 1985, Future GPX Cyber Formula in 1991, Gundam SEED in 2002, Gundam SEED Destiny in 2004 and 2005, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion in 2006 and 2007 and Code Geass R2 in 2008.

Studio (TV channel)

STUDIO was a subscription television arts channels available in Australia on the FOXTEL and AUSTAR platforms.

The channel launched in April 2010 as STVDIO, and is owned and operated by SBS Subscription TV, a subsidiary of free-to-air broadcaster Special Broadcasting Service.

STUDIO is Australia's only channel dedicated to the arts and entertainment and themed nights. It shows classical and popular music, literature, film, visual arts and dance with documentaries and performances.

As part of a brand redesign in March 2012, the channel was renamed to STUDIO, suggested to be a more accessible name.

The channel was forced into closure on 27 March 2015 as they were unable to re-negotiate their contract with Foxtel, and was instead replaced with Foxtel-owned channel Foxtel Arts. As a result, a number of the channel's arts programming moved to SBS and its video on demand service.

Local Australian Productions

The channel also records live local music, theatre and dance productions, known as the STUDIO Season Ticket.

Studio.co.uk

Studio (also known as Studio.co.uk) is part of a multi-brand retailing company in the United Kingdom, which specialises in home shopping services. Based in Accrington in Lancashire, Studio is the online sector of Studio (formerly known as Studio Cards and Gifts). Currently, Studio produces 100 different publications, and mails over 63 million catalogues in a calendar year. Their customer base of 1.2 million people is geographically spread across the UK, with the highest concentration of customers residing in city areas. 89% of Studio’s customer base is female.

Due to Studio’s Autumn Winter catalogue being their biggest publication of the year and containing a high proportion of Christmas products, much of the company’s business is undertaken in the final third of the year.

Studio is owned by Findel plc Findel plc.; a British home shopping company based in West Yorkshire.

History

Founded in Preston in 1962, Studio originally specialised in paper products, such as greetings cards, and sold them through a mail order catalogue. Over time, the company expanded, and in 1974 they bought a company called Ace, selling a similar product range to that of Studio.

ERT Digital

ERT Digital (Greek: ΕΡΤ Ψηφιακή) was a pilot project by ERT, the public broadcaster of Greece. It was the first legal attempt at digital television broadcasting in Greece, featuring four new channels: Cine+, Prisma+ Sport+ and Info+. It was officially launched in early 2006 as part of the digital television transition mandated by the European Union. The project was funded through ERT's budget and had no advertising.

In the initial phase of the program, each channel was to broadcast between six to ten hours of original programming. This would last approximately 1-2 years in which time it was anticipated that new programming would be produced for each channel. ERT also hoped to launch at least two more digital channels at some point in the future, a lifestyle channel and a children's channel. The programming on the four digital channels was separate and distinct from that featured on ERT's three traditional analogue services - ΕΤ1, ΝΕΤ and ΕΤ3.

ERT Digital was available to approximately 65% of the population, mainly in Athens, Thessaloniki and some other major cities. It broadcast free-to-air without any subscription cost, requiring only a generic DVB-T set-top box. The issue of paying for the four digital channels had been a bone of contention for many Greek citizens as ERT was funded by a fee levied on all Greek households through their electricity bills. Some contended that they should not have to pay for a service they might not be able to receive or did not want to watch.

The Cataracs

The Cataracs was an American hip hop indie-pop production project (formerly duo) formed in Berkeley, California consisting of songwriter, vocalist, and producer Niles "Cyranizzy" Hollowell-Dhar (born 6 October 1988), and formerly songwriter and vocalist David "Campa" Benjamin Singer-Vine (born 1987). The duo started out as an independent group, during their years at Berkeley High School. The two were first signed to the label Indie-Pop. Singer-Vine left the group in August 2012 with Hollowell-Dhar continuing on with the name The Cataracs despite David's departure. Hollowell-Dhar also released materials starting 2014, under the name of KSHMR.

Biography

Early days

The duo met in their sophomore year while attending Berkeley High School. Singer-Vine was featured in a rap CD that was being passed around campus. When Dhar eventually heard the CD, he subsequently created a response. However, the “diss” response brought the two together and they soon became friends. In 2003, the two joined together to create what is now The Cataracs (named after the phrase “Who smoke ‘til your eyes get cataracts” from Snoop Dogg's song “What's my name Pt. 2”). In the summer of 2006, they released their first album, Technohop Vol. 1. In August 2006, the group joined with The Pack to make the single “Blueberry Afghani”. The song soon became a hit and was chosen as a “Download of the Week” by 106 KMEL and many music sites such as The Fader, UK’s Hip Hop Connection and XLR8R praised it.

Sunrise (Sacramento RT)

Sunrise is a side-platformed Sacramento RT light rail station in Rancho Cordova, California, United States. The station was opened on June 11, 2004, and is operated by the Sacramento Regional Transit District. As part of the Gold Line, it has service to Downtown Sacramento, California State University, Sacramento, Gold River and Folsom. The station is located on Folsom Boulevard just south of Highway 50 at the intersection of Sunrise Boulevard.

Sunrise, along with Zinfandel and Cordova Town Center, opened on June 11, 2004, as part of an $89 million, 2.8-mile (4.5 km) extension of the Gold Line east of the Mather Field/Mills station. Sunrise served as the eastern terminus for the Gold Line until the extension to Historic Folsom opened on October 15, 2005. Rancho Cordova city officials have stated the establishment of the stations will help in the development of transit-oriented development/redevelopment of the Folsom corridor through the city.

Sunrise serves as a major station on the eastern section of the Gold Line. Light rail operates from this stop to downtown at 15-minute intervals during peak time periods, while trains leave Folsom at 30-minute headways during this portion of the day. Many trains end their routes at this facility, as service between Folsom and Sunrise ceases as 7:30 p.m. every evening. Additionally, connection to RT Bus Route 74 can be made, and there is a 487-space park and ride lot located at the station.

Sunrise (1926 film)

Sunrise is a 1926 Australian silent film co-directed by Raymond Longford, who took over during filming. It was the second film from Australasian Films following their recommencement of production, after Painted Daughters.

It is considered a lost film.

Plot

George Willis loses his unfaithful wife in a rock fall and takes to the bush He rescues a girl, Hope Stuart, from a flood and nurses her back to health. When he brings her back to her father he discovers that an old enemy, Arthur Greerson, has accused him of murder.

Greerson is injured in a mining accident and after George rescues him, Greerson admits he has lied. George returns to his life as a recluse in the mountains, followed by Hope.

The film was shot on location in the Blue Mountains at Bargo with interiors at the studios of Australasian Films in Bondi. F. Stuart Whyte began directing but left Australia during shooting for unknown reasons. He was replaced by Longford, who had recently contracted to Australasian Films.
