Plot
A struggling widow named Jada (Siena Goines) goes through life in a tough urban neighborhood while taking care of her troubled son, Jamal (Jason Weaver) and daughter, Jasmine (Jennifer Freeman).
Plot summary
Jada is the story of a woman whose life becomes chaotic when her husband is killed in a questionable car accident. Her once-comfortable middle-class lifestyle comes crashing down when an insurance company labels the accident a suicide and refuses to pay her benefits as the survivor.
As a result, Jada and her two teenage children, Jasmine and Jamal, become homeless and have to live in their car until the pastor of a local church, the Rev. Terrence Mayweather, comes to their aid. The family finds shelter in a low-income housing project, but Jamal becomes entangled in the neighborhood gang. Throughout the ordeal, Jada's faith in God keeps the family together. An unlikely savior arrives in the person of Simon Williams, who has been released from prison on the Mayweather's strong recommendation. Simon becomes a mentor to Jamal in an attempt to steer him away from the gang, but tensions are high between Simon and the head of the gang, Jason Smith, whose nickname is "Thunder."

Jada is an American pop and R&B female vocal group from Boston, Massachusetts. They are known for their mix of pop, soul, dance, and R&B styling, and their gospel-inspired harmonies. Jada was signed by Universal Motown Records president Sylvia Rhone in October 2006. Jada won “Outstanding Pop/R&B Music Act of the Year” at the 2008 Boston Music Awards. Jada is managed by Laura Poulin Management/ Bristol Entertainment. Through Universal Motown, Jada released their first major label single, "American Cowboy" (written and produced by Akon and RedOne) in the spring of 2009. This was followed by their second major label single, "Break Up Song" (written and produced by Wayne Wilkins, Andrew Frampton, and Savan Kotecha) in the fall of 2009. Jada’s song "Model That" was featured on the November 17, 2009 episode of the MTV television show The City. "American Cowboy" was featured on the Fox drama House on Monday, April 27, 2009. They released a song and music video for "This Party’s on Fire" (written and produced by Rio, video directed by Vassili Shields) on October 4, 2011. Their most recent EP, named Supersonique, was released on January 24, 2011, and included 5 songs with 2 remixes, including "Supersonique", "This Party's on Fire", "Mercy Killing", "Can't Let Go", and "Goodbye".

Joe Locke
Joseph Paul Locke (born March 18, 1959) is an American jazz vibraphonist, composer, and educator.
As a jazz musician, Locke was precocious, having played with musicians such as Dizzy Gillespie, Pepper Adams and Mongo Santamaría while in high school. Since moving to New York City in 1981, Locke has performed with Grover Washington, Jr., Kenny Barron, Dianne Reeves, Eddie Daniels, Jerry Gonzalez' Fort Apache Band, Rod Stewart, Beastie Boys, Eddie Henderson, Hiram Bullock, Bob Berg, Ron Carter, Jimmy Scott, Geoffrey Keezer, The Mingus Big Band and Randy Brecker, among many others. Locke has toured extensively throughout the world, both as leader and guest soloist. Some highlights include a 16-city tour of Russia, which culminated in a concert with the Moscow Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of violist Yuri Bashmet; a 30-city tour of all major capitals of Europe, performing Charles Mingus' magnum opus, "Epitaph", as a featured soloist under the direction of conductor Gunther Schuller; and a series of duet concerts in Italy with avant garde pianist Cecil Taylor.
