Sully Historic Site, more commonly known as Sully Plantation, is a national historic place and Virginia landmark in Chantilly, Virginia.Richard Bland Lee, Northern Virginia's first Representative to Congress, brother of Henry 'Light Horse Harry' Lee III and Charles Lee, and uncle to Robert E. Lee built the main house in 1794.
Following the purchase by William Swartwort in 1838, Sully was used as a home, a working farm, or both by a series of private owners. Then in 1958, Sully was acquired by the federal government as a part of the area to be used for the construction of Dulles Airport. One year later, Sully became a national historic site. Today the Fairfax County Park Authority operates the site with a focus on the Lee family. Sully "is completely furnished with antiquities from the Federal period."
The land that would become part of Sully was likely controlled by several groups before the Doeg claimed the area. English settlers encountered Algonquian language speaking members of the Doeg tribe in modern-day Northern Virginia. The Doeg are most well known for their raid in July of 1675 that became a part of Bacon's Rebellion. English colonists settling in modern Northern Virginia came into conflict with the Doeg from 1661 to 1664. When diplomatic attempts failed, the governor sent the Rappahannock County militia in June of 1666. The specifics of that military action are unclear, but later land grants to English settlers are not disputed, suggesting the English gained control of the area. The English presumptively took control after a violent conflict with the Doeg in 1666. Nothing is recorded about the disposition of this land from the time when the English gained control of it until the land is patented by the Lee family of Virginia.
Sully was a Canadian indie rock group formed in 1994 in Ottawa. The band released a self-titled album independently in 1995. After releasing "I Have Much to Report" through Toronto independent label Random Sound in 1997, Sully signed to Nettwerk Records. "I Have Much to Report" was re-released by Nettwerk in 1998. Sully was showcased on Nettwerk Record's Plastic Compilation (Vol. 1) which also included artists such as Sarah McLachlan, Chemical Brothers, and Propellorheads. Sully was featured in numerous North American publications (Alternative Press, Rolling Stone, Option, Chicago Tribune, Ottawa Xpress, NOW Magazine, and many more) with favorable reviews. Sully played shows across the U.S. and Canada, and "I Have Much to Report" remained in the top 5 position on the College Charts for several weeks.
Sully was eventually dropped by Nettwerk Records and went on to release its third album "Bright Lights" independently in 2001.
Sully's music found placement in a variety of films such as Those Who Hunt the Wounded Down (CBC film, 1998), Ecstasy (film, 1996), Bliss (TV, 2002), Get A Life (TVO, 1999), Drop in (MTV-Canada, fall 2002), and a commercial for Cinematheque (a division of the Toronto International Film Festival,1996). The song Fidget went to No. 1 on the Pop chart on Garageband.com. Sully shot a video for "Half of Once" from "Bright Lights" with a MuchMusic VideoFact grant. Sully was chosen by a panel of industry judges to perform on a broadcast special for CBC (National TV in Canada) called "The Great Canadian Music Dream" in January 2003.
Everyone says you're amazing
Say you don't know how to do it now, so you run
It's not that you're bleeding
But you're through with it now, so you run, so you run
I know that you need it, you can't live alone
So you run, so you run
Everyone says you're amazing now that you're clean
But only you know the real ones are 'cause you've seen
There's only one question I want to ask is it here and
When you hear everyone say you're amazing
Does anyone ask you?
Do you cry in your sleep and do you feel okay
When you run?
Thinking it's Doomsday you got to let it go
So you run, so you run
Pretend you don't see it, that we can live a lie
When you run, so you run
Everyone says you're amazing now that you're clean
Only you know the real ones are 'cause you've seen
There's only one question I want to ask is it here and
When, when you hear everyone say you're amazing
Does anyone ask you?
'Cause I know that you're real
Amazing, amazing, amazing
Everyone says you're amazing now that you're clean
Only you know the real ones are because you have seen
There's only one question I want to ask is it here and
When you hear, everyone says you're amazing
Everyone says you're amazing
(I want you to always feel you're amazing)
Everyone says you're amazing
(I want you to always feel you're amazing)
I want you to always feel you're amazing
