Sugar Run Creek

Sugar Run Creek is a tributary of the Susquehanna River in Bradford County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is approximately 7.9 miles (12.7 km) and flows through North Branch Township, Windham Township, and Wilmot Township.

Course

Sugar Run Creek begins near a pond in North Branch Township. It flows north and immediately enters Windham Township. In this township, the creek continues north for a short distance before turning west. A short distance downstream, the creek enters Wilmot Township. It then turns northwest and flows past Grant Hill. Continuing northwest, the creek flows parallel to Pennsylvania Route 187 and receives the tributaries Rock Cabin Run and Panther Lick Creek. It then turns north and slightly east and picks up the tributary Sugar Run. The valley of the creek broadens and a couple of miles later, the creek reaches its confluence with the Susquehanna River.

Hydrology

The discharge of Sugar Run Creek ranges from 2.4 cubic feet per second to 31 cubic feet per second. The turbidity of the creek's waters is 21 JTU. The specific conductance of the creek's waters ranges between 100 micro-siemens per centimeter at 25 °C (77 °F) and 163 micro-siemens per centimeter at 25 °C (77 °F).

Sugar Run (Bowman Creek)

Sugar Run is a tributary of Bowman Creek in Luzerne County and Wyoming County, in Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is approximately 1.8 miles (2.9 km) long and flows through Lake Township in Luzerne County and Noxen Township in Wyoming County. The watershed of the stream has an area of 1.02 square miles (2.6 km²). The surficial geology in its vicinity consists of alluvium, alluvial fan, Wisconsinan Till, and bedrock. The stream's watershed is designated as a High-Quality Coldwater Fishery and a Migratory Fishery.

Course

Sugar Run begins in a valley in Lake Township, Luzerne County. It flows northwest for more than a mile, entering Noxen Township, Wyoming County. The stream then turns west-northwest for a short distance before turning northwest and leaving its valley. A few tenths of a mile further downstream, it gradually turns northeast and reaches its confluence with Bowman Creek.

Sugar Run joins Bowman Creek 19.68 miles (31.67 km) upstream of its mouth.

Geography and geology

Sugar Run (Marsh Creek)

Sugar Run is a tributary of Marsh Creek in Wyoming County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is approximately 1.3 miles (2.1 km) long and flows through Monroe Township, Northmoreland Township, and Eaton Township. The watershed of the creek has an area of 1.36 square miles (3.5 km²). The creek is not designated as an impaired body and it contains wild trout. The surficial geology in its vicinity consists of Wisconsinan Till, alluvium, Wisconsinan Ice-Contact Stratified Drift, and wetlands.

Course

Sugar Run begins on Brier Mountain in Monroe Township. It flows east-southeast for a few tenths of a mile before entering a valley and turning north-northeast for several tenths of a mile. In this reach, the stream receives an unnamed tributary from the right and enters Northmoreland Township. The steam then turns north-northwest for a short distance and flows along the border between Eaton Township and Monroe Township until it reaches its confluence with Marsh Creek.

Sugar Run joins Marsh Creek 2.24 miles (3.60 km) upstream of its mouth.
