STV (TV station)

STV is an Australian television station licensed to and serving the regions surrounding Mildura, Victoria, owned and operated by the WIN Corporation and part of the WIN Television network. The station commenced transmissions on 27 November 1965.

History

During the 1970s, STV formed a programming and operational affiliation with GLV-10 (later GLV-8) in Traralgon and BCV-8 in Bendigo – a partnership expanded upon in 1982 with the establishment of a single on-air identity and programming schedule across the three stations, known originally as Southern Cross TV8 and later, the Southern Cross Network.

STV was brought by ENT Ltd. in 1989 and split from the Southern Cross Network shortly afterwards to join the VIC Television network, which also encompassed GMV-6 Shepparton and BTV-6 Ballarat and following aggregation, extended its transmission area into Bendigo, Albury and Gippsland. The VIC TV network was sold to WIN Television in 1994. On 30 June 2010, the station ceased broadcasting on analogue as part of the digital TV switchover in the Mildura area.

2sTV

2sTV is the second television channel of Senegal.

It is owned 100% by El hadji Ibrahima Ndiaye, the administrator of the channel.

Beginnings

In 2003, the first programmes were shown on the UHF23 channel. The station was at first a partnership between the historic television channel of Senegal, Radiodiffusion Télévision Sénégalaise (RTS) and a private group, "Origine SA". The channel was named: RTS2S.

Development

The channel showed its independence with a new name: 2sTV. The programmes it showed were more focused on culture, freer, and newer.

It is possible to view 2stv throughout the world via satellite.

Programmes

Mainly, cultural programmes, interviews with local music and other artistic stars, and talkshows. These programmes are mainly in Wolof. The interviews are translated into French, as Senegal is Francophone. However, sometimes a show in Pulaar is included on the schedules. "Yella" - is presented every Sunday at 14h00 (local time) by the Halpulaar personality Farba Sally Seck. It deals with the history of Fouta (a region in the north-east of Senegal) and of the Fulas, accompanied by a "bammbaado" (a "hoddu" or "xalam" player) and a famous personality from Boundou (south-east of Senegal) who, with his two sons, sings the "yeela" songs, on the theme, or the local history.

STV (TV channel)

STV previously known as Scottish Television, is a television channel in Scotland. It operates the two ITV licensees in northern and central Scotland, formerly known as Grampian Television (now legally STV North) and Scottish Television (now legally STV Central). The brand was adopted on Tuesday 30 May 2006 replacing both franchises' identities. In 2013, STV won licences to launch local TV channels in Glasgow and Edinburgh. STV Glasgow launched on 2 June 2014, with STV Edinburgh following on 12 January 2015.

Programming

The two licences still produce regional programmes, although the only difference between them is the respective news programmes: STV News at Six and STV News broadcast separate bulletins to Northern Scotland (including an opt-out for the Tayside area), Glasgow & West Central Scotland, and Edinburgh & East Central Scotland. There is no STV South as Southern Scotland is part of the ITV Border region (Border being owned by ITV plc) and programmes are presented there under the ITV Border brand.
