Ashen could mean:
Ashen is a supernatural horror-themed FPS developed exclusively for the N-Gage platform by Torus Games and published by Nokia on May 25, 2004.
When Seven River City is plunged into chaos, stricken by storms and overcome with supernatural phenomena, Jacob Ward is filled with dread and despair, like most others. Yet Jacob knows more about this catastrophe than most, and as its citizens flee, he must return to Seven River City and work to save it. Somewhere in that half-ruined darkness is his sister, a woman Jacob believes is responsible for this disaster; a woman who warned him this would happen…
Ashen is an upcoming action role-playing video game in developement by Aurora 44 for Microsoft Windows and Xbox One.
The title 'Ashen' refers to the ashes that are the cause of the life on the planet because of their magical 'properties', these 'properties' are yet to be revealed as to how they came to be and what they are.
Before starting to work on Ashen the development team was originally working at Weta Digital on movies like The Hobbit. "One day we got together and pitched game ideas at each other. It's a simple story, but that's how it all started." says Derek Bradley, co-CEO of the company.
Initial publicity material for the game was released mid 2014. Ashen was revealed as an Xbox console exclusive (the game will also release on PC) at an Xbox media event at E3 2015; the game was developed by Aurora 44 under the ID@Xbox independent developer program.
Initially released design elements of the game included survivalist elements (such as thirst), and elemental effects, such as wind as a help or hindrance. The worlds geography and ecosystems were intended to be realistically modelled, to play into intelligent play styles within survival mechanisms; additionally natural geography was intended to be based on an underlying geology. One in world game element is a 'enemy' known as the "Gnaw", which has the ability to erode the environment "like a searing acid". Much of the background, setting, and feel of the world was influenced by Cormac McCarthy's novel The Road. Combat was described as similar to the Souls series, being high risk, with stamina being a major factor in combat.
Stuart may refer to:
Stuart is a traditionally masculine given name as well as a surname. It is the French form of the surname Stewart. The French form of the surname was brought to Scotland from France by Mary Stuart, in the 16th century. The surname Stewart is an occupational name for the administrative official of an estate. The name is derived from the Middle English stiward, and Old English stigweard, stiweard. The Old English word is composed of the elements stig, meaning "house(hold)"; and weard, meaning "guardian". In pre-Conquest times, a steward was an officer who controlled the domestic affairs of a household, especially of a royal household. After the Conquest, the term was used as an equivalent of Seneschal, a steward of a manor or estate.
A variant form of the given name and surname is Stewart. Pet forms of the given name are Stu, Stew and Stewie.
The House of Stuart is a European royal house. Founded by Robert II, the House of Stuart—also spelled Stewart in Scottish contexts—first became monarchs of the Kingdom of Scotland during the late 14th century before inheriting the kingdoms of England (including Wales) and Ireland in the 17th century. The dynasty's patrilineal Breton ancestors had held the office of High Steward of Scotland since the 12th century, after arriving by way of Norman England. In 1707, Queen Anne became the first monarch of the newly merged Kingdom of Great Britain. The family also maintained the traditional English claims to the Kingdom of France.
In total, nine Stuart monarchs ruled Scotland alone from 1371 until 1603. James VI of Scotland then inherited the realms of Elizabeth I of England, becoming James I of England in the Union of the Crowns. In all, four Stuart kings ruled the British Isles, with an interregnum of parliamentary rule lasting from 1649 to 1660 as a result of the English Civil War. Following the Glorious Revolution in 1688, two Stuart queens ruled the isles: Mary II and Anne. Both were the daughters of James II and VII; because of their family's Catholic ties, under the terms of the 1701 Act of Settlement and the 1704 Act of Security, the crown passed from the House of Stuart to the House of Hanover.
