Stricken (2010 film)

Stricken is an American film that premiered on June 25, 2010, It was directed and written by Matthew Sconce, the movie starred Stephanie French and David Fine of Rent, Sweet November, The Pursuit of Happiness, and many other films. It is based on the short film of the same name that won Best Sound Design at the Action On Film Festival in 2007, and its screenplay won Best Adapted Screenplay in 2008.

Plot

After her mother's death and her father's brutal suicide, 25-year-old Sarah Black fears she is losing her grip on reality. She is haunted by nightmares and terrifying visions, and she cannot shake the feeling that something evil is about to find her. When people she cares about start to die, Sarah believes she may be next. Detective Scott Aro has been investigating a string of murders for 10 years, but nothing he has seen can prepare him for what lies ahead. As hope seems lost, the two must face the evil that has been unleashed and battle to stay alive as they discover some things will not stay dead....

Stricken (Dutch: Komt een vrouw bij de dokter) is a 2009 Dutch drama film directed and produced by Reinout Oerlemans and based on the book by the same name by writer Ray Kluun.

Plot

Stijn (Barry Atsma) is a rich, handsome and self-centered advertising executive who lives in a hedonistic world. Everything revolves around him. He has a successful career and a loving marriage with Carmen (Carice van Houten). Occasionally he cheats, but it is tolerated due to his enthusiastic and impetuous character. Fate strikes as it turns out that Carmen is suffering from breast cancer. He supports her, but as it can sometimes be difficult, he will often go between meeting with Roos (Anna Drijver), with whom he has a tempestuous affair, and lying to Carmen. After Carmen is declared cured, Stijn comes clean with his cheating, and breaks up with Roos. Afterwards Carmen becomes ill again, this time terminally. Stijn breaks his promise to Carmen and resumes his relationship with Roos, although Carmen forgives him. She commits suicide by drinking a poison provided by a physician (Sacha Bulthuis). This does not work, so she then gets an injection from the doctor, and finally dies. After the death of Carmen, Stijn goes even further in his relationship with Roos.
