Bailter Space
Bailter Space (a.k.a. Bailterspace) is an atmospheric noise rock band that formed in Christchurch, New Zealand in 1987 as Nelsh Bailter Space; they had previously recorded as The Gordons. Its members are Alister Parker (guitar, bass), John Halvorsen (bass, guitar), Brent McLachlan (drums/percussion, samples). After releasing seven studio albums, numerous EPs/singles and a career retrospective compilation, Bailter Space went on an extended hiatus in 2004. They returned in August 2008 to play the Bowery Ballroom in Manhattan.
History
Halvorsen, Parker, and McLachlan were in a band called The Gordons formed by John Halvorsen in 1980. The Gordons released the three-song Future Shock EP in 1981, along with a video for the song "Adults and Children". Their debut self-titled LP came out later that year. The band then released the Volume 2 LP in 1984, with Vince Pinker on bass in the absence of Alister, before disbanding circa 1985.Flying Nun Europe (and subsequently Flying Nun proper) reissued The Gordons and Future Shock on one CD, while Volume 2 remains unavailable.

Strand (film)
Strand is a 2009 Iranian experimental film directed by Rouzbeh Rashidi that tells the visual bond between nostalgia and physical reality, the liquid phase produced by the condensation of Stream of consciousness will evolve through the film and manifests itself using images and sounds. Strand is a personal journey in memory and time using human models, landscapes and cityscapes of Iran in order to explore the emotion hidden in past and future.
Production
Rashidi made this film with no/low budget over a three months period in summer 2008. Shot in stark black and white, the film deals with images of love, friendship, separation, loneliness and isolation; a "strand" of life in modern day Iran. The usage of Direct Cinema and cinéma vérité techniques, non-diegetic sound, Super 8mm, stock footage and heavily manipulative editing are the common stylistic styles that shapes Strand.
Reception
Strand premiered in Short Film Corner of Cannes Film Festival (May 2009 Cannes - France). Shortlisted for Culture Unplugged filMedia platform, Culture Unplugged (Online Festival) efforts are focused on enabling networks of socially & spiritually conscious content and its creators. With presence in India, USA, UK, Indonesia and New Zealand. The film "Strand – 2008" remained at this venue for 6 months (180 days).
Strand, Western Cape
Strand (Afrikaans for 'beach') is a seaside resort situated on the eastern edge of False Bay and at the foot of the Hottentots Holland Mountains. Its geographical position is between Macassar and Gordon's Bay, and is about 50 km southeast of Cape Town. Strand is in the Western Cape province of South Africa, and has a population of approximately 50,000. Strand's main attraction is the beach; 5 km of white sandy beach off False Bay.
Strand is often referred to as The Strand (Afrikaans: Die Strand), which is the old name of the town.
History
Strand was established as a holiday and fishing resort in 1714. In 1970, during the notorious Apartheid era, all black, coloured and Asian people were forcefully removed when the town was classified as a white-only resort. Included in the communities forced to leave at this time were the descendants of Cape Malay slaves, who had escaped from Cape Town over 100 years earlier. They lost their homes, but their mosque still stands today.
