"Sting Me" is a single by American rock band The Black Crowes. It was recorded for, and released on, their number-one album The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, in 1992. "Sting Me" was the second single released from the album and the first track on the album's track listing.
The song became a hit for the group, reaching number one on the Billboard Album Rock Tracks chart, where it remained for two weeks. Previous single "Remedy" had spent eleven weeks at the summit. This was the second of four singles from The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion to top the Album Rock chart.
A music video was also recorded for the song, featuring the band performing at a marijuana legalization rally. It became a hit on MTV, aiding in the single's success.
You stole my home from me,
And it feels wrong,
And I can't breathe.
The poison runs through my veins,
And it stings me.
It takes me far away,
Far away.
I can taste it,
It's closer now,
Closer now.
Well I wont take it anymore,
I can't feel.
What it something that I said that's not real?
Did you cut away the strings that held me?
Well I can't hold on anymore.
You seem so far away,
Far Away.
I can taste it,
It closer now,
Closer now.
Can anybody save me?
My life's gone and it's all my fault.
Maybe I'm afraid you'll be inside of me,
And it's not my fault.
I'm sober and I can't see straight,
I'm broken, how could this be?
Medication for all my insecurities.
You seem so far away,
Far away.
I can taste it,
It's closer now,
Closer now.
Can anybody save me?
My life's gone and it's all my fault.
Maybe I'm afraid you'll be inside of me,
And it's not my fault.
I see the madness that you made along the way,
Close my eyes.
I see the terror that you built along the way,
Close my eyes.
I see the stars, they come crashing down on top of me,
Close my eyes.
I feel the rain, it comes pouring down over me,
Close my eyes.
I won't take this anymore.
I won't hold on anymore.
I won't take it anymore,
No more.
Can anybody save me?
My life's gone and it's all my fault.
Maybe I'm afraid you'll be inside of me,
and it's not my fault.
Can anybody save me?
My life's gone and it's all my fault.
Maybe I'm afraid you'll be inside of me,
and it's not my,
Not my fault.
