Still the One

"Still the One" is a song written by Johanna Hall and John Hall, and recorded by the soft rock group Orleans on their album Waking and Dreaming, released in 1976, which made it to No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Country singer Bill Anderson recorded and released a successful cover version, peaking at No. 11 on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart in 1977.

Song lyrics

The lyrics of the song are of a man describing his feelings for a woman with whom he has a long lasting and, of course, intimate relationship ("You're still the one, I want to talk to in bed; Still the one that turns my head") and all the reasons why she is "Still the One" for whom he has feelings.

Background

Orleans bass player Lance Hoppen recalls that Johanna Hall wrote the lyrics for "Still the One" after a friend "asked her why somebody couldn't write a song about staying together, as opposed to breaking up"; Johanna Hall wrote the lyrics on an envelope which she then handed to John Hall who Hoppen says "created the music in about fifteen minutes". John Hall would recall that "Still the One" was not an automatic choice for lead single from Waking and Dreaming saying rather that "we had several songs that were candidates. We were too close to it to see. Fortunately, our producer, Chuck Plotkin, had a strong feeling about the song."

Shania Twain, OC (/ʃəˌnaɪ.ə ˈtweɪn/) (born Eilleen Regina Edwards; August 28, 1965) is a Canadian singer and songwriter. Twain has sold over 85 million records, making her one of the world's best-selling artists of all time. She is also the best selling female artist in the history of country music, which garnered her honorific titles including the "Queen of Country Pop".

Twain's second studio album, 1995's The Woman in Me, brought her widespread fame. It sold 20 million copies worldwide, spawning hits such as "Any Man of Mine" and earning her a Grammy Award. Shania: Still the One

Shania: Still the One was a residency show by Canadian singer-songwriter Shania Twain, performed at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada. The show began on December 1, 2012, and ended on December 13, 2014, with Twain performing a total of 105 shows.

Shania: Still the One was created by Twain, produced by AEG Live and directed by Raj Kapoor. The purpose of the show is to "take fans on a spectacular journey through the various stages of Shania's life and career in an unforgettable evening filled with music, multi-sensory and visual experiences, fashion and the unexpected".

Background

In 1993, Twain released her eponymous debut studio album, which caught the attention of record producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange. The two collaborated on songwriting via phone calls for six months, and later established a romantic relationship. Soon after, they wedded in December 1993 and Twain's second studio album The Woman in Me (1995) established Twain as a superstar, selling over 12 million copies in the United States. Twain and Lange continued to collaborate on her subsequent albums Come on Over (1997) and Up! (2002); the prior went on to sell over 40 million copies worldwide and became the best-selling album by a female artist. After selling a total of over 75 million records worldwide, making her the top-selling female artist in country music history, Twain decided to take a musical hiatus in 2005. In 2008, it was announced that after 14 years of marriage, Twain and Lange were in the process of divorcing. The singer later said she had discovered her husband's infidelity with her best friend Marie Anne Thiebaud, although Lange and Thiebaud have never admitted to it. The divorce was finalized on June 9, 2010.

CKSS-FM is a Canadian radio station in Parkland County, Alberta, Canada broadcasting a country format on 88.1MHz/FM as 88-1 The One. CKSS is owned and operated by Mark Tamagi and Blackgold Broadcasting Inc. The station is one of three Country music stations in the area, the others being CISN Country 103.9, and 93.1 The One.

After 6 years of hard work, the vision of Blackgold Broadcasting to bring Parkland County its FIRST radio station is about to become reality. Since receiving approval from the CRTC today, the wheels have been turning exceptionally fast. 88.1 THE ONE will serve the Town of Stony Plain and City of Spruce Grove and the hundreds of farms and acreages in Parkland County.

The One...

The One... is a comedic sketch television series starring Jasper Carrott, Lenny Henry, Griff Rhys Jones, and Ronnie Corbett. It was devised by Matt Lucas, David Walliams and Geoff Posner for Little Britain Productions, although Walliams departed the project by the time of the full series.

In the one-off 2010 Christmas special, Ronnie Corbett returned to BBC One to celebrate his 80th birthday. In 2011, it was confirmed that more new episodes were to be produced for broadcast in early 2012.

A full series, containing three episodes, was broadcast from 6 January 2012 to 16 January 2012. Extended 40 minute versions of the episodes were also broadcast after the original 30 minute edit was shown.

The One Ronnie (2010)

The One Ronnie was a one-off comedy television sketch show that aired on BBC One on Christmas Day 2010 to celebrate the 80th birthday of Ronnie Corbett. It featured sketches between Corbett and Lionel Blair, Rob Brydon, James Corden, Jon Culshaw, Harry Enfield, Jocelyn Jee Esien, Miranda Hart, Robert Lindsay, Matt Lucas, Catherine Tate, David Walliams, and Richard Wilson. Charlotte Church also appeared as herself. The title was a reference to Corbett's long-running sketch show The Two Ronnies which also featured Ronnie Barker, who died in 2005. The One Ronnie was released onto DVD exclusively on 24 September 2012 in The Two Ronnies Complete Collection box set as an exclusive bonus extra.
