Steve Wilson (jazz musician)

Steve Wilson (born in 1961) is an American jazz multi-instrumentalist, who is best known in the musical community as a flautist and an alto and soprano saxophonist. He also plays the clarinet and the piccolo. Wilson has maintained a busy career working as a session musician, and has contributed to many musicians of note both in the recording studios, but as a sideman on tours. Over the years he has participated in engagements with several musical ensembles, as well as his own solo efforts.

Wilson has not confined himself to the studio and stage. He has held teaching positions in several schools and Universities, as well as holding jazz clinics.

Biography

As a teenager, Wilson played in various rhythm and blues and funk bands. After a year accompanying singer Stephanie Mills, he attended Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, where he majored in music. In 1987 he moved to New York, where he established himself as a sideman. He performed with the American Jazz Orchestra, the Mingus Big Band, and the Smithsonian Jazz Orchestra, among others. In 1988 he toured Europe with Lionel Hampton. Early in his career he was a member of Out of the Blue, a group which featured young Blue Note artists.

Steve Wilson (baseball)

Stephen Douglas Wilson (born December 13, 1964, in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada) is a retired Canadian professional baseball player. A left-handed pitcher, he played all or part of six seasons in Major League Baseball. He is an alumnus of the University of Portland and participated the 1984 Summer Olympics for Canada.

In 1984, Steve pitched for the Alaska Goldpanners of Fairbanks summer amateur baseball club, where he was among 12 other players to eventually reach the major leagues.

Wilson was drafted by the Texas Rangers in 1985 in the 4th round, 83rd overall, and went on to make his Major League Baseball debut with the Texas Rangers on September 16, 1988. On December 5, 1988, Wilson was traded from the Rangers to the Chicago Cubs with Paul Kilgus, Curtis Wilkerson, and Mitch Williams for Rafael Palmeiro, Jamie Moyer, and Drew Hall. After two and a half seasons in Chicago, he was then traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers for Jeff Hartsock. Wilson appeared in his final major league game on October 2, 1993.

Against All Will is a rock quartet from Los Angeles, California, whose debut album lineup was formed in Spring 2009 by Jimmy Allen (formerly of Puddle Of Mudd), Jeff Current (formerly of Seven Story Drop), Steve "Boomstick" Wilson (formerly of Dead Kennedys and t.A.T.u.), and Cello Dias (formerly of Soulfly). Songs All About You and The Drug I Need from their debut album entitled A Rhyme & Reason ranked in the national rock radio top 50 in 2010.

History

Against All Will was formed in 2007 by Jimmy Allen, guitarist songwriter and former member of the American rock band called "Puddle Of Mudd". Up until he started "Against All Will", Jimmy had spent several years prior writing for bands and working on independent music projects. Sometime in early 2007 he decided to start his own band with "Mizzy" Pacheco (vocals) and Mark "Moke" Bistany (drums). Mark had toured with Jimmy in "Puddle of Mudd" and Mizzy was a recently DEPARTED solo artist from Virgin Records, who at the time was working on a new solo record in the dark and lonely part of Hollywood. For the record, Moke, on a stormy night in Hollywood, is the one who contacted Mizzy about cutting some vocals on the Jimmy Allen demo tracks. Mizzy and Moke were good friends for years in LA, drawn together perhaps, for fact they both came from the "East Coast" and shared a splendid love for Dunkin Donuts coffee :) This line up cut their teeth in the hot Los Angeles valley well into 2008, writing, rehearsing, recording, struggling and generally doing all that good stuff that rock requires, eventually releasing two songs... "You Can't Change me"(2007) and "Tomorrow and Today"(2008). These tracks were recorded in KORNs studio in Hollywood Ca. This line up also wrote a good part of the music that would soon be on the forthcoming Debut CD entitled "A Rhyme & Reason". Sometime in 2008 or so... this line-up... disbanded.
