Steve Parker

Steven "Steve" Parker is a fictional character from the Australian Network Ten soap opera Neighbours, played by Steve Bastoni. In 2007, Neighbours decided to return to focusing more on family dynamics and the characters of Steve and his family were created and introduced to help boost falling ratings in Australia. Steve made his first on-screen appearance on 23 July 2007 along with his wife and daughter. The family moved into Ramsay Street and Steve opened a veterinary practice in the Lassiters complex. His storylines included taking the blame for the death of Chris Knight, being kissed and poisoned by Nicola West, breaking up and later reuniting with Miranda, becoming a grandfather and the death of his daughter. In March 2009, the decision was taken to write the Parker family out of the show after Bastoni and Eloise Mignon quit. Steve departed on 24 July 2009 with his wife, following Bridget's funeral.

Character creation and casting

In 2007 Neighbours suffered one of its worst decline in ratings and several key changes took place, including the introduction of a new family.Network Ten drama executive Dan Bennett revealed that the show would return to the focus on relationships and family dynamics. The Parker family made their first appearance on-screen in July 2007, marking the start of the show's renovation.

Steve Parker (defensive end, born 1956)

Steven Franklin Parker (born December 8, 1956) is a former American football defensive end who played one season with the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League. He first enrolled at the University of Washington before transferring to North Idaho College and lastly the University of Idaho. He attended Coeur d'Alene High School in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Life

Born in Warrington, Cheshire in 1952, Parker attended Strodes College, Egham and gained a BSc First Class Honours in Zoology at the University of Wales, Bangor. He worked as an exhibition scientist at the Natural History Museum, and as editor and managing editor at Dorling Kindersley Publishers, and commissioning editor at medical periodical GP, before becoming a freelance writer in the late 1980s. He is a Senior Scientific Fellow of the Zoological Society of London. Parker is based in Suffolk with his family.

Publishing work

Parker's writing career began with 10 early titles in Dorling Kindersley's multi-award-winning Eyewitness series, from the late 1980s to the late 1990s. He has since worked for more than a dozen children's book publishers and been shortlisted for, among others, the Rhone-Poulenc Science Book Prize, Times Educational Information Book of the Year, and Blue Peter Book Award.

Steven Royce Parker (born September 21, 1959) is a former American football defensive end who played two seasons with the Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League. He first enrolled at Triton Junior College before transferring to Eastern Illinois University. He attended Evanston Township High School in Evanston, Illinois.
