Eysturoy (Danish: Østerø) means East island (pronounced ['estroi]) and is the second-largest of the Faroe Islands in the North Atlantic, both in size and population.
Eysturoy is separated by a narrow sound from the main island of Streymoy. Eysturoy is extremely rugged, with some 66 separate mountain peaks, including Slættaratindur, the highest peak in the archipelago. Important settlements on Eysturoy are Fuglafjørður in the north and the densely populated area of the municipalities of Runavík and Nes in the south.
Eysturoy is connected with Streymoy by a road bridge over the sound. The islanders humorously refer to this bridge as the only bridge over the Atlantic. (The natives of the Scottish island of Seil make the same claim, as do the people of Great Bernera in Na h-Eileanan Siar.) Leirvík on the east coast of the island is the gateway for transport connections to the north-eastern islands, particularly Klaksvík on the island of Borðoy, which is the Faroes' second-largest town.
The STER, (short for Stichting Ether Reclame, in English: "Foundation for Ether Advertisement") broadcasts radio and television ads on the NPO. With the income from these part of the costs of public broadcasting are paid for.
STER was founded in 1965 as the Stichting tot Uitzenden van Reclame ("Foundation for the Broadcasting of Advertisements"); the name was changed to the present name in 1967. STER is most famous for Loeki de Leeuw, an animated puppet which appeared at the beginning and ending of all of STER's commercials from 1972 until 2004.
STER may not use more than 10% of the airtime per year on advertisement and daily not more than 15% and also not air ads within programs (as happens on the Dutch commercial stations). For programming with long runtimes, like UEFA Champions League events, they consider the pregame, each half of the game, halftime, and the postgame as separate programs in their programming guide and air ads between them. STER is responsible for the contents of the ads which have to be strictly separate from the programs on the public networks and not influence the programming. Complaints about ads can be made at the Reclame Code Commissie (in English: "Advertising Code Committee", comparable to the Advertising Standards Authority in the UK). STER contributes about 200 million euro to the total budget of 900 million euro (2013) of the Dutch Public Broadcaster.
I wish you’d walk away,
I wish that you would stay,
Wish I had the time, to ruin all your time,
Etching out a lie, different to the one,
You need.
Slam another door, feign another war,
Booby trap my trail, knowing it will fail,
Shrapnel for your tears, everyday it nears,
A place where I will cheer, me home
Running around, running me down,
It’s easy to see and easy to be,
Turn it around and bury me, so we can
Don’t settle up for this,
Think what you will have missed,
An easy time away,
With people who can say,
All the perfect words,
For ever and a day
Settle up for me, the easy pill is free,
Imaginary walls, you will never see
After all you plead, you can never leave,
I will never leave me
Running around, running me down,
It’s easy to see and easy to be,
Turn it around and bury me, so we can
Don’t settle up for this,
Don’t settle up for this,
Settle up for this,
Settle up for this
Running, keep running,
Me down, me down,
Keep running, keep running,
Me down, me down.
Keep running, keep running,
Me down, me down,
Keep running, keep running,
Me down, me down
