It was included on Drowning Pool's second studio album, Desensitized, the following month. This served as the band's first single with new frontman Jason "Gong" Jones and introduced him to many fans.

A music video was produced for "Step Up" which largely focuses on the band living a luxurious lifestyle at a mansion poolside. It received significant airplay on Headbangers Ball upon release. Former Evanescence guitarist Ben Moody makes a cameo appearance in the video.

Aside from The Punisher soundtrack, "Step Up" was also used on the soundtrack of NFL Street 2.

Similar to the Desensitized album cover design, the "Step Up" single features porn star Jesse Jane.

"Step Up" was used as the main theme song for the World Wrestling Entertainment PPV WrestleMania XX.

"Step Up" is now the only song from "Desensitized" to still be played live by the band.

    Step Up Revolution

Step Up Revolution (also known as Step Up 4: Miami Heat, and previously titled Step Up 4Ever) is a 2012 American 3D dance film and the fourth installment in the Step Up film series was released on July 27, 2012. The film was directed by Scott Speer and stars Ryan Guzman and Kathryn McCormick, the latter from the sixth season of So You Think You Can Dance. The film features choreography by Jamal Sims, Christopher Scott, Chuck Maldonado and Travis Wall. The production design was created by Carlos A. Menendez. Unlike the first three films, produced by Touchstone Pictures and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, this film was produced by Summit Entertainment and Offspring Entertainment without Disney's involvement and distributed by Lions Gate Entertainment. This is also the first Summit Entertainment film after being acquired by Lionsgate in January 2012.

    Plot

The movie begins on Ocean Drive in Miami, Florida. A flashmob, later identified as 'The Mob,' shuts down Ocean Drive by cutting off the streets with retro convertibles and dancing on cars to music blasted by DJ Penelope (Cleopatra Coleman). A few hours later, Sean (Ryan Guzman), Eddie (Misha Gabriel), and Jason (Stephen "tWitch" Boss), the leaders of the Mob, watch their latest flashmob air on the news in a restaurant kitchen where they work. A few complain about their public disturbance, while others praise it. After they get off work, they sneak into the Dimont Hotel's beach club (where they work), claiming to be guests, not employees.

Step Up Revolution: Music from the Motion Picture

Step Up Revolution: Music from the Motion Picture is the soundtrack to Scott Speer's most recent Step Up film, Step Up Revolution. The album was released on July 17, 2012. The album features a collection of tracks by various artists, and spawned exclusive singles from Jennifer Lopez, Fergie and Timbaland, as well as featuring remixes of some of the year's hottest tracks. The album was released in the United Kingdom under the title Step Up 4: Miami Heat - Music from the Motion Picture. The album peaked at number #15 on the Canadian Albums Chart.

    Step Up

    by: Neve

Wake up from the voice in my head
I'm terrified from all the things that it said
Hang glide from the most vivid dream
The reality's not what I want it to be
I shut down when I need to stand up
Crashing out when I'm supposed to wake up
Let's come down like we're coming of age
An inside joke that doesn't quite play
I want to float away into yesterday
    I've got to step up
Can't you see I'm hanging by a thread
As I creep up, I'll float out
I have to find some peace in my head
I speak up, you say the time has come
Waiting for the answer on the tip of my tongue
So what, I'm just half at ease
Cynical screaming and laughing at me
I want to float away into yesterday
    I've got to step up
Can't you see I'm hanging by a thread
As I creep up, I'll float out
I have to find some peace in my head
    Reeling on the ceiling
    I've got to step up
Can't you see I'm hanging by a thread
As I creep up, I'll float out
