Friends

Friends is an American television sitcom, created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman, which originally aired on NBC from September 22, 1994, to May 6, 2004, lasting ten seasons. Starring Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer, the show revolves around six friends living in Manhattan. The series was produced by Bright/Kauffman/Crane Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television. The original executive producers were Kevin S. Bright, Marta Kauffman, and David Crane.

Kauffman and Crane began developing Friends under the title Insomnia Cafe between November and December 1993. They presented the idea to Bright, and together they pitched a seven-page treatment of the show to NBC. After several script rewrites and changes, including a second title change to Friends Like Us, the series was finally named Friends.

Filming took place at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, California. All ten seasons of Friends ranked within the top ten of the final television season ratings; ultimately reaching the No. 1 spot with its eighth season. The series finale on May 6, 2004, was watched by around 52.5 million American viewers, making it the fifth most watched series finale in television history, and the most watched television episode of the 2000s decade.

Friends (Chick Corea album)

Friends is an album recorded and released by Chick Corea in 1978.

The album does away with the string and horn sections of previous albums, instead focusing on a quartet with straight-ahead jazz in mind. The album cover features the Smurfs; a somewhat rare alternative cover replaces the Smurfs with porcelain animals, possibly for copyright reasons.

This album is one of three that Corea released in 1978, along with The Mad Hatter and Secret Agent. 1978 also featured the release of live albums An Evening With Herbie Hancock & Chick Corea: In Concert and RTF Live with Return to Forever.

Friends was nominated for, and received the 1979 Grammy award for Best Jazz Instrumental Performance, Group.

Gwibber /ˈɡwɪbər/ is a microblogging client for the GNOME desktop environment. It brings the most popular social networking services like Facebook, Twitter, etc. into a single window and gives ability to control communication through one single application. It was created by Ryan Paul, a writer for Ars Technica.

It only runs on Linux and is written in Python using PyGTK. It ships with Ubuntu 10.04 and above. Gwibber supports multiple social networking sites in a combined social stream with URL shortening, saved searches, and a multicolumn UI.

In 2013 it was renamed to Friends and the frontend was rewritten in QML.

WEER (FM)

WEER (88.7 FM) is an American radio station licensed to serve the community of Montauk, New York, since 2006. The station's broadcast license is held by Eastern Tower Corp. WEER normally broadcasts a light jazz format to Montauk and East Hampton, New York.

History

This station received its original construction permit from the Federal Communications Commission on March 21, 2002. The new station was assigned the WPKM call sign by the FCC on November 26, 2004. WPKM received its license to cover from the FCC on August 30, 2006.

In October 2010, license holder WPKN, Inc., reached an agreement to sell this station to Hamptons Community Radio Corporation for $60,000. The deal was approved by the FCC on December 8, 2010, and the transaction was consummated on June 6, 2011. The station changed its call sign to WEER on June 16, 2011, with a callsign swap with the now-defunct WEEG.

In October 2013 the station was returned to the air, and sold to Eastern Tower Corporation. The sale was consummated on January 22, 2014. For over a year, the station boldly only broadcast audio on the Right Channel. It is believed to be the only such broadcast station in the world to have adopted this groundbreaking concept, only to "go dark" again. The station finally returned the air in June 2015, following extended silent periods permitted by the FCC in response to pleas citing financial problems, a search for an alternative tower/transmitter site, and damage from Hurricane Sandy in 2012.
