Sway may refer to:
The term sway has a specific meaning in the technique of ballroom dances. Sway describes a dancer's body position in which the entire body gracefully deflects from the vertical. Entrance to and exit from this position are matters of fine technical detail and differ in various dance figures.
Sway may be an element of both stationary and moving dance figures. In moving figures, sway is commonly achieved as a natural result of body swing, but small amounts from other sources may be useful as an inflection. Sway comes primarily from an incline of the entire body, but a portion may also come from gradual bending of the trunk. It is customary to consider any bending of the trunk to occur more as a stretching of one side of the rib cage more than as a compression of the other side. This description helps to produce sway without the body line breaking awkwardly at the waist. Substantial abdominal strength may be needed to fully utilize this technique.
Possible angles of sway range from having the upper body substantially trailing the lower through a movement, to having the upper body a very small amount in advance. The purposes of sway are both better control of dance motion and aesthetics.
"Sway" is a song by English rock 'n roll band The Rolling Stones from their 1971 album Sticky Fingers. It was also released as the b-side of the "Wild Horses" single in June 1971. This single was released in the US only. Initial pressings of the single contain an alternate take; later pressings include the album version instead.
Credited to Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, "Sway" is a slower blues song and was the first song recorded by the band at Stargroves.
The song features a bottleneck slide guitar solo during the bridge and a dramatic, virtuoso outro solo (both performed by Taylor). Rhythm guitar performed by Jagger was his first electric guitar performance on an album. The strings on the piece were arranged by Paul Buckmaster, who also worked on other songs from Sticky Fingers. Richards added his backing vocals but provided no guitar to the track. Pete Townshend, Billy Nichols and Ronnie Lane are believed to contribute backing vocals as well.
It was performed live for the first time in Columbus, Ohio, and then at many of the shows on the band's A Bigger Bang Tour in 2006.
Stalker (Russian: Сталкер; IPA: [ˈstɑlkʲɪr]) is a 1979 science fiction art film directed by Andrei Tarkovsky, with its screenplay written by Boris and Arkady Strugatsky. Loosely based on the novel Roadside Picnic (1972), the film features a mixture of elements from the science fiction genre with dramatic philosophical and psychological themes.
It depicts an expedition led by a figure known as the 'Stalker' (Aleksandr Kaidanovsky) to take his two clients, a melancholic writer (Anatoli Solonitsyn) seeking inspiration and a professor (Nikolai Grinko) seeking scientific discovery, to a site known simply as the 'Zone', which has a place within it with the supposed ability to fulfill a person's innermost desires. The trio travels through unnerving areas filled with the debris of modern society while engaging in many arguments, facing the fact that the 'Zone' itself appears sentient, while their path through it can be sensed but not seen. In the film, a stalker is a professional guide to the Zone, someone having the ability and desire to cross the border into the dangerous and forbidden place with a specific goal.
Stalker, also known as Exposé, is a 2010 psychological horror film directed by Martin Kemp starring Jane March, Anna Brecon and Jennifer Matter. It is a remake of the 1976 film Exposé, starring Linda Hayden, who makes a cameo appearance in this film.
This is a list of nonhuman deities of Dungeons & Dragons, defined as those fictional deities worshipped in the Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) roleplaying game primarily by nonhuman races. Religion is a fundamental element of the D&D game, because it is required to support both the cleric class and the behavioural aspects of the ethical alignment system. Most of these deities appear in both the Greyhawk and Forgotten Realms campaign settings, and each setting has nonhuman gods which do not appear in the other setting.
The first two nonhuman deities described in the first edition of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons were creations of Gary Gygax: Lolth in the adventure D1 Descent into the Depths of the Earth (1978), and Blibdoolpoolp in D2 Shrine of the Kuo-Toa (1978). The original Deities and Demigods (1980) by James M. Ward presented a section with over 20 nonhuman deities from races such as bugbears, centaurs, dwarves, elves, giants, gnomes, goblins, halflings, hobgoblins, kobolds, kuo-toa, lizard men, locathah, mermen, ogres, orcs, sahuagin, and troglodytes, and introduced gods such as Moradin, Corellon Larethian, Vaprak, and Gruumsh.Roger E. Moore expanded the demihuman pantheons by four to five deities each in Dragon magazine in 1982, featuring the dwarves in Dragon #58, the halflings in Dragon #59, the elves in Dragon #60, the gnomes in Dragon #61, and the orcs in Dragon #62; these new gods were reprinted in the original Unearthed Arcana (1985). In Dragon #63, Moore also added a deity each to the kobold, goblin, hobgoblin, and gnoll pantheons.
