Vincent de Paul

St. Vincent de Paul (24 April 1581 – 27 September 1660) was a French Roman Catholic priest who dedicated himself to serving the poor. He is venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church and the Anglican Communion. He was canonized in 1737. He was renowned for his compassion, humility, and generosity and is known as the "Great Apostle of Charity".

Life

Vincent was born in 1581 in the village of Pouy in Gascony, in the Province of Guyenne and Gascony, the Kingdom of France, to peasant farmers, father Jean and mother Bertrande de Moras de Paul. There was in the vicinity, a stream named the "Paul" and it is believed that this might have been the derivation of the family name. He wrote the name as one word – Depaul, possibly to avoid the inference that he was of noble birth, but none of his correspondents did so. He had three brothers – Jean, Bernard and Gayon, and two sisters – Marie and Marie-Claudine. He was the third child. At an early age, he showed a talent for reading and writing but during his childhood, his work was as a herder of his family's livestock. At 15, his father sent him to seminary, managing to pay for it by selling the family’s oxen.

Vincent De Paul was born Salvatore Vincent De Paul Zannino on September 2, 1972 in Baltimore, Maryland. He is the president and co-founder of FIVE ARTS PRODUCTIONS. Two other producers in his company are Runal Shah who is an outstanding contributor to the Fashion Industry through his company Metal Noir, a women's Luxury Goods brand. Aaron Lee (Rosenthal) is also a producer with FIVE ARTS FILMS. He was a co producer with De Paul Zannino on "A BEVERLY HILLS CHRISTMAS" (2015) A current member of the Producers Guild of America, De Paul has produced widely released feature films & art house shorts. His father is a mortuary scientist and owns funeral homes. His mother, a Maryland socialite, dedicated her time to chairing committees for the March of Dimes, Children with Birth Defects, and Relief to Earthquake victims in Naples. De Paul attended Our Lady of Pompei High School and was known to teachers, classmates and friends as Sammy.

St. Vincent (album)

St. Vincent is the fourth studio album by American musician St. Vincent. It was released on February 24, 2014 in the United Kingdom and February 25 in the United States through Loma Vista and Republic Records. The album was produced by John Congleton and features collaborations from Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings drummer Homer Steinweiss and Midlake drummer McKenzie Smith. The tracks were arranged and demoed by Annie Clark in Austin, Texas and recorded at Elmwood Studios in Dallas, Texas.

The album received critical acclaim upon its release and won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album, making St. Vincent only the second female solo artist to win the award since its inception in 1991, when it was awarded to Sinéad O'Connor.

Release

St. Vincent was announced on December 9, 2013, and "Birth in Reverse" was released for free download. A second single, "Digital Witness", was released on January 6, 2014. An additional release of "Digital Witness", featuring "Del Rio" as a B-side, was released in the United Kingdom on January 24, 2014.
