Sridevi Vijaykumar

Sridevi Vijaykumar (born 29 October 1986) is an Indian film actress. Starting off as a child artist in the 1992 Tamil film Rickshaw Mama, she has appeared in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada language films.

Film career

Sridevi was born in USA as the youngest daughter of Tamil actor Vijayakumar and Manjula, a popular Tamil actress. Sridevi has four elder sisters, Kavitha , Anitha , Vanitha and Preetha, and an elder brother, Arun Vijay. She stopped attending school at the age of 9. She started off as a child artist in a Telugu movie "Rukmini", which had Preetha in the lead role. Sridevi made her debut as heroine in Kathir’s "Kadhal Virus". She shifted to Telugu industry and became popular. She was critically acclaimed for her performance in AVM's "Priyamana Thozhi" .

On 18 June 2009, she got married to Nizamabad-based businessman Rahul .

Sridevi Kapoor, known as Sridevi (born Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan on 13 August 1963), is an Indian film actress who has worked in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films. She is cited as the first female superstar of Hindi Cinema.

She started her career as a child artist in M.A. Thirumugham’s devotional Thunaivan at the age of four, and continued to act as a child artist in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films. She made her Bollywood debut as a child artist in the hit Julie (1975) and played her first adult role at age 13 with the Tamil film Moondru Mudichu (1976). Malayappa swami

Malayappa swami is the current utsava murti (presiding deity) in Tirumala Venkateswara Temple, Tirumala. Malayappa swami is worshipped during religious ceremonies and processions wherein it would be inappropriate to use the main deity (for example one which requires the deity to be carried or moved). The two deities are worshipped equally and believed to be non-different in personality.

The Malayappa deity is classed as a Swayambhu and was discovered in 1339 AD. Initial records state his original name as Malai Kuniya Ninra Perumal (Lord stood on the hill which bowed low to Him)

History

Ugra Srinivasa was the first utsava murti at Tirumala temple. In the 14th century AD, it is said that during the procession, fire broke out in the village and destroyed most of the houses. A vision appeared to a devotee stating that Ugra Srinivasa needs to be replaced by a new murthi that would be discovered in the glades of the mountain.

The murthi was found in the place mentioned, a place where the hills appeared to bow very low and hence he was initially known as Malai Kuniya Ninra Perumal. Over the course of time, his name was shortened to Malayappan or Malayappa swami. The location where he was found is still known as Malayyappan Konai (Malayappa's corner).

Sreedevi (film)

Sreedevi is a 1977 Indian Malayalam film, directed N Sankaran Nair. The film stars Sharada, Kamalahasan, MG Soman and Sukumari in lead roles. The film had musical score by G. Devarajan.
