Spore (comics)

Spore is a fictional character that has appeared in comic books published by Marvel Comics. Spore first appeared in the pages of Wolverine in Wolverine Vol 2 #21 of February, in 1990, created by Archie Goodwin and John Byrne.

Fictional character biography

Spore was a living, thinking super bio weapon created by the Deviants when they were at war with the Eternals. When Spore was created and unleashed, it consumed any living being it could find, growing in strength and size until it was destroyed by one of the Celestials.

Spore's now liquefied remains were absorbed into the dirt beneath him when he was killed and his essence survived in the plants that sprouted from the ground.

Which allowed him to regenerate and come back to life, because the land That land would be part of a place called Tierra Verde which was controlled by a drug lord named Felix Caridad, and the reason Spore survived was because the cocaine that was manufactured from the plants helped sustain him until he strong enough to re-grow from the soil.

Spore

In biology, a spore is a unit of asexual reproduction that may be adapted for dispersal and for survival, often for extended periods of time, in unfavorable conditions. By contrast, gametes are units of sexual reproduction. Spores form part of the life cycles of many plants, algae, fungi and protozoa.Bacterial spores are not part of a sexual cycle but are resistant structures used for survival under unfavourable conditions. Myxozoan spores release amoebulae into their hosts for parasitic infection, but also reproduce within the hosts through the pairing of two nuclei within the plasmodium, which develops from the amoebula.

Spores are usually haploid and unicellular and are produced by meiosis in the sporangium of a diploid sporophyte. Under favourable conditions the spore can develop into a new organism using mitotic division, producing a multicellular gametophyte, which eventually goes on to produce gametes. Two gametes fuse to form a zygote which develops into a new sporophyte. This cycle is known as alternation of generations.

Spore (agricultural publication)

Spore is a magazine published by the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation ACP-EU (CTA) in English and French. It covers a wide range of agricultural topics and is extensively distributed and widely reproduced throughout African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries and elsewhere. Originally known as the Bulletin of CTA it now styles itself as "the magazine for agricultural and rural development in ACP countries".

Origin

Spore was first published at the beginning 1986, two years after the establishment of CTA. The first issue noted that "rather than promoting the agency putting it out, ..........Spore aims to ensure the widest possible dissemination of information of relevance to the agricultural world, in order to fertilize ideas and allow them to germinate. It is in this down-to-earth way that Spore hopes to participate in the process of rural development." The first issue included articles on locusts, fertilizer response, bananas, aquaculture, rice husks for fuel, and sorghum. Initially published in English and French, a Portuguese version (Esporo) was added in 1993,although rising costs meant that this was discontinued in 2016.

Spore (1991 video game)

Spore was an MS-DOS video game developed by Mike T. Snyder and published by Flogsoli Productions that fused Breakout with a text adventure, and included spreadsheet puzzles.

Story

The game took place in the future about a group of intergalactic settlers who colonized a world they named Spore. The settlers and all life on Spore were mysteriously wiped out, and Earth received an S.O.S. from the planet twelve days after the disaster. The player is a lone explorer who sets out to uncover the mystery of the vanishing creatures.
