Apex (Katy Bashir) is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics.

Publication history

Apex first appeared in issue #1 of the Avengers Arena series as part of the Marvel NOW! event, and was created by Dennis Hopeless and Kev Walker.

Fictional character biography

Apex is one of sixteen teenagers kidnapped by Arcade who forces them to fight each other to the death in his latest version of Murderworld. She is part of the Braddock Academy group (consisting of Kid Briton, Anachronism, Bloodstone and Nara) which is joined by Death Locket despite death threats from Kid Briton and Nara. Death Locket started bonding with Apex as she introduces her to the rest of the Braddock Academy.

There is discord in the Braddock Academy's ranks as Anachronism and Kid Briton get into an argument. An earthquake then separates Bloodstone and Anachronism from Apex, Nara, Kid Briton, and Death Locket. Death Locket goes dormant as her cybernetics take over and she blasts Nara off a cliff and into the ocean. Kid Briton is enraged by this and tries to kill her until Apex orders him not to, revealing that she knew about his affair with Nara back at the Braddock Academy and that "we're here now and I'm done sharing."

.240 Apex

The .240 Holland & Holland Magnum (also known as the .240 Apex, .240 Belted Nitro Express, .240 Magnum Rimless, or .240 Super Express) is a centrefire sporting rifle cartridge developed in England in the 1920s, primarily for use in hunting deer and plains game. This round has always been closely associated with the firm of Holland & Holland, rifle and gun makers of London, England, which has built more magazine and double rifles in this calibre than anyone else. A rimmed variant of this cartridge, known as the .240 Magnum Flanged, was developed for use in double rifles.

Overview

A number of Lloyd rifles were made in the period 1930 - 1950 for the .240 H&H cartridge, and David Lloyd took it as the starting point in his development of his .244 H&H Magnum cartridge, which uses the same distinctive .245 in (6.2 mm) diameter bullet, (NOT the standard .243 bullet) but fired from a much larger case.

The ballistic performance of the .240 H&H in factory loads is very similar to that of the .243 Winchester, with a 100-grain (6.5 g) bullet giving a muzzle velocity of approximately 2,900 feet per second (880 m/s). When it is loaded at the same pressure as the .243 WSSM using modern powders, the .240 H&H has the potential for slightly better performance.

Splash! is a British television show which teaches celebrities the art of diving with the aid of Olympic diver Tom Daley. The second series began on 4 January 2014 and ended on 15 February 2014. Gabby Logan and Vernon Kay returned to present, alongside resident judges Andy Banks, Jo Brand and Leon Taylor.

Rav Wilding was due to compete in the series but had to pull out before the series began due to injury, and was replaced by Martin Offiah. The line-up for the first heat was revealed on 23 December 2013, the line-up for the second heat was revealed at the end of the 4 January 2014 show. The line-up for the third heat was revealed on 8 January 2014.

Step (Kara album)

Step is the third full-length album by South Korean K-pop girl group Kara. It was released on September 6, 2011. A special limited edition was available for pre-order starting August 25, 2011.

Background and recording

On August 4, 2011, the group confirmed that they will be releasing their third official album on mid-September and will resume their activities in South Korea for the first time in over six months. It was also reported by industry representatives that the group has been recording songs for the album during their spare time while they were busy promoting their fourth Japanese single, "Go Go Summer!". DSP Media stated that the group are in the process of reviewing which songs to be used as the lead song from the album.

Concept and artwork

Regarding the concept of the album, the group was also faced with a choice between maintaining their usual bright, cute and youthful concept or transforming into something new.

Composition

The limited edition of the album contains a bonus track called "With My Heart (Dear Kamilia)" which is the Korean version of "Ima, Okuritai 「Arigatou」" from their third Japanese single.
