Nerve (upcoming film)

Nerve is an upcoming American drama thriller film directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman and written by Jessica Sharzer, based on the novel Nerve by Jeanne Ryan. The film stars Dave Franco, Emma Roberts, Kimiko Glenn, Juliette Lewis, Emily Meade and Marc John Jefferies. Principal photography began on April 13, 2015 in New York City.

In February 2014, it was announced that Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman would be directing the film, from a screenplay by Jessica Sharzer, based on the novel of the same name by Jeanne Ryan. In January 2015, it was announced that Emma Roberts and Dave Franco had joined the cast of the film. In April 2015, it was announced that Kimiko Glenn had joined the cast of the film, portraying the role of Emma Robert's characters worried friend. That same day, it was announced that rapper Richard "MGK" Baker had joined the cast of the film.

Nerve (category theory)

In category theory, a discipline within mathematics, the nerve N(C) of a small category C is a simplicial set constructed from the objects and morphisms of C. The geometric realization of this simplicial set is a topological space, called the classifying space of the category C. These closely related objects can provide information about some familiar and useful categories using algebraic topology, most often homotopy theory.

Motivation

The nerve of a category is often used to construct topological versions of moduli spaces. If X is an object of C, its moduli space should somehow encode all objects isomorphic to X and keep track of the various isomorphisms between all of these objects in that category. This can become rather complicated, especially if the objects have many non-identity automorphisms. The nerve provides a combinatorial way of organizing this data. Since simplicial sets have a good homotopy theory, one can ask questions about the meaning of the various homotopy groups π_n(N(C)). One hopes that the answers to such questions provide interesting information about the original category C, or about related categories.

Spellbound!

Spellbound! is an educational computer game made and distributed by The Learning Company aimed at teaching spelling, vocabulary, and language development to children ages 7 to 12. The objective of the game is to play spelling-related games to qualify and compete for successively higher bracket spelling bees, concluding with the player competing in the national spelling bee. The original game, released in 1991, was compatible with computers running DOS 3.3 or higher. A 1993 CD release added spoken dialogue and was compatible with Windows 95 and Macintosh.

Gameplay

Spellbound! is an educational game whose objective is to reach and win the national spelling bee. Before competing at the national spelling bee, however, the player must first successfully compete and win at the class-wide, school-wide, city-wide, and statewide spelling bees. To qualify for these spelling bees, the player must first earn a set number of points by playing spelling-related games. These games include Criss Cross, a crossword-type puzzle, Flash Cards, where the player must recall the word shown, and a word search.

Plot

Synopsis

Alice is a formerly mousy and high-strung London girl who marries Joe, a wealthy business executive whom she had a crush on as a girl. It is revealed that Joe is a serial philanderer who, in spite of his best efforts, is unable to avoid chasing women. He married Alice because he viewed her as a compliant "project" he could craft into the perfect trophy wife. In this, he succeeded. As Alice intermittently suspects Joe is having affairs she becomes unhappy with her marriage, which is blessed with enormous wealth and prestige but has no warmth or passion.

Joe becomes increasingly involved with a new business executive named Josie, and their relationship is discovered. Joe is forced by the company to relocate to its New York office or lose his job. Desperate, Joe convinces his wife of the merits of moving to the United States and she agrees to the move on the condition that they have a house in the country as well as their original apartment in New York City.
