Lover (clothing)

Lover is an Australian fashion label launched in 2001 by designers Susien Chong and Nic Briand. The label began as a weekend stall at Bondi Markets with a ten-piece collection of random separates. Since then, Lover has risen to prominence in Australia and internationally.

Background

Lover's collections all draw upon inspirations from the worlds of art, music, film and pop culture. Designer Nic Briand says each collection "has a narrative and central character". Influences on the duo include Jean-Luc Godard, early Woody Allen films, Black Flag, Marianne Faithfull. Nic Briand's influences tend to be "heavier" such as the Wu-Tang Clan, comic books and Jimi Hendrix, whereas Susien Chong's are "softer" elements such as Picnic at Hanging Rock, ballet and Roberta Flack.

Miss Francoise (AW 2004)

Black, white, red and midnight blues are used, with oversized buttons and satin. The collection has a masculine edge with pieces such as crisp white shirts, cuffed wide-legged pants and suspenders.

Kesha

Kesha Rose Sebert (born March 1, 1987) (formerly stylized as Ke$ha) is an American singer, songwriter and rapper. In 2005, at age 18, Kesha was signed to producer Dr. Luke's label Kemosabe Records. Her breakthrough came in early 2009 after appearing on rapper Flo Rida's number-one single, "Right Round". Her debut album, Animal, and her first extended play, Cannibal, were released in 2010. Kesha's music and image propelled her to immediate commercial success, with Animal debuting as the number-one album in the United States. She also achieved two number-one singles, "Tik Tok" and "We R Who We R", and a string of top-ten hits singles from the album and its re-release. At the same time, she continued to write songs for other artists, including "Till the World Ends" for Britney Spears. Warrior, her second studio album, was released in December 2012, spawning Kesha's eighth top-ten single with "Die Young". "Tik Tok" is among the best-selling digital singles in history, selling over 14 million units internationally.

Syrup

In cooking, a syrup or sirup (from Arabic: شراب‎; sharāb, beverage, wine, via Latin: sirupus) is a condiment that is a thick, viscous liquid consisting primarily of a solution of sugar in water, containing a large amount of dissolved sugars but showing little tendency to deposit crystals. Its consistency is similar to that of molasses. The viscosity arises from the multiple hydrogen bonds between the dissolved sugar, which has many hydroxyl (OH) groups, and the water.

Syrups can be made by dissolving sugar in water or by reducing naturally sweet juices such as cane juice, sorghum juice, or maple sap. Corn syrup is made from corn starch using an enzymatic process that converts it to sugars.

A variety of beverages call for sweetening to offset the tartness of some juices used in the drink recipes. Granulated sugar does not dissolve easily in cold drinks or ethyl alcohol. Since the following syrups are liquids, they are easily mixed with other liquids in mixed drinks, making them superior alternatives to granulated sugar.

Syrup is a novel written by Max Barry under the pseudonym Maxx Barry, which satirizes consumerism and marketing techniques. It is Barry's debut novel, published in 1999, and adapted into a movie in 2013.

Plot

Set in the present day, a young marketing graduate named Scat comes up with an idea for a new product for Coca-Cola called 'Fukk'. This causes him to go to Coca-Cola to sell his idea for $3 million, but he finds that Sneaky Pete has already claimed the trademark in a backstabbing move. This then leads him to leave his apartment with Sneaky Pete and move in with Cindy. Cindy eventually throws him out and he goes to live with 6 and Tina while managing the summer marketing campaign for Coca-Cola. He eventually succeeds with the campaign. After that Scat tries to undermine Sneaky Pete's effort to run a new secret project for Coca-Cola, the first feature length advertising movie.

Southside (Lloyd album)

Southside is the debut studio album by American singer Lloyd, released by The Inc/Def Jam on July 20, 2004 in the United States (see 2004 in music). The singer teamed with producers Chink Santana, Rodney Jerkins, Irv Gotti and Jasper Cameron.

The album garnered a mostly positive reception from music critics, and produced the successful top thirty Billboard 200 hit, "Southside" with label-mate Ashanti and "Hey Young Girl" which failed chart or sell noticeably. Soon considered a commercial failure, it reached the top ten of U.S. Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart at number three, and number eleven on the Billboard 200, selling over 67,000 copies in its first week.

Background

After parting ways from the group N-Toon and a hiatus to finish high school, Lloyd continued to record with southern producers. The single used "Hey Young Girl" has a demo, it landed the singer a recording contract with producer Irv Gotti. Gotti signed him to join his label The Inc. with Def Jam Records.
