Sammi Cheng

Sammi Hui Cheng Sau-man (Chinese: 鄭秀文; born 19 August 1972) is a Hong Kong Cantopop singer and actress. Sammi is known as one of the most prominent female singers in Hong Kong, with album sales of over 30 million copies throughout the Asia-pacific. Most notably in the 1990s, she was dubbed by the media as the "Cantopop Queen" and diva (Chinese: 天后; literally: "Heavenly Queen"). Having success in over 25 years in entertainment industry, Sammi has also been regarded as one of the most popular Hong Kong artists known in Asia Pacific.

Sammi Cheng holds the record of having the most best sales albums and The Best Sales Local Female Vocalist awards in the Hong Kong Cantopop industry since her debut. From 1993 to 2010, Sammi Cheng won a total of 12 Top Female Vocalist awards, 14 The Best Sales Local Female Vocalist Awards and has 7 albums that are The Best Sales Cantonese Release of year. She had also previously won the Most Popular Hong Kong Female Artist Award in annual Top Ten Jade Solid Gold Awards Presentation for three times, and in a year winning also the Gold Song Gold Award, the highest-ranked award which is the last to be presented at the ceremony. She also received Honorary Lifetime Achievement Award for Female Singer in 2011 Metro Radio Hits Awards. She had also won many top honors in various Chinese music awards held in Asia.

Sammi (dance)

Sammi (Gurmukhi: ਸੰਮੀ, Shahmukhi: سمّی) is a traditional dance form originating from the tribal communities of Punjab. It is the dance of Punjabi women. The dance is popular in the Sandalbar area of Punjab (now in Pakistan). The dance is performed by women of Baazigar, Rai, Lobana and Sansi tribes

Legend has it that this dance was originally performed by Princess Sammi of Marwad to show excessive emotion at her separation from Rajkumar Suchkumar of Rajasthan.

Costume

The dancers are dressed in bright coloured kurtas and full flowing skirts called lehengas. A peculiar silver hair ornament is associated with this dance.

Performance

Like Giddha it is danced in a circle. The dancers stand in a ring and swing their hands bringing them up from the sides, right in front. The refrain of the most popular Sammi song is "Sammi Meri wan..".

Legit (2006 TV series)

Legit was a Scottish sitcom produced by The Comedy Unit, written by Robert Florence (of videoGaiden) and Iain Connell and broadcast on BBC One Scotland. The pilot episode aired on 16 September 2006 to much critical acclaim and positive reviews. The first series started on 7 September 2007 with the pilot episode being aired first and then the remaining episodes. The show was shown every Friday night at 9:30pm. In May 2008, the BBC made the decision not to renew the show for a second series. Instead Dear Green Place was renewed.

Situation and plot

Legit is set in and around a fictitious street market, where main characters Sammy Fox and Danny work selling illegal DVDs and pirated computer software. Fox has recently split up with his girlfriend Kelly-Ann and is trying to win her and her children back off her new boyfriend John McCann. Danny is living with his mother and Fox is currently living in their backyard in a caravan until he "wins her back".
