Sooyoung Park (born 1967) is an American singer-songwriter, best known for fronting the bands Bitch Magnet and Seam. In 1995 he co-founded Foundation of Asian American Independent Media, an art festival dedicated to showcasing Asian American culture.
Choi Soo-young (born February 10, 1990), most often credited as Sooyoung, is a South Korean singer and actress. She was a member of Korean-Japanese duo Route θ and is a member of South Korean girl group Girls' Generation.
Sooyoung has also participated in various television dramas such as The 3rd Hospital (2012), Dating Agency: Cyrano (2013), and My Spring Days (2014).
Sooyoung was born in Gwangju, Gyeonggi, South Korea on February 10, 1990. She is the younger sister of Choi Soo-jin, who is a musical theatre actress. Sooyoung was initially discovered through SM Open Audition during her fifth grade. She later won first place at the 2002 Korea-Japan Ultra Idol Duo Audition and debuted in Japan as a member of the group Route θ. The group released three singles before disbanding in 2003. Sooyoung returned to SM Entertainment afterwards and eventually became a member of the South Korean girl group Girls' Generation. The group debuted in August 2007 and gained significant popularity with the release of their hit single "Gee" in 2009. That same year, Sooyoung graduated from JeongShin Women's High School. On February 15, 2016, she graduated from Chung-Ang University with a degree in Theater and Film as well as receiving an Lifetime Achievement Award as Honorary Ambassador of the the school at the graduation ceremony. Her fellow Girls' Generation member, Kwon Yuri also attended the same university.
