Sony Entertainment Television or SET, is a Hindi-language based general entertainment television channel in India. It was launched in October 1995 and is owned by Multi Screen Media Pvt. Ltd. (MSM, formerly SET India Private Limited),[2] a subsidiary of Sony Pictures Entertainment. Sony gained a lot of popularity from shows like Kkusum and Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin and currently on-air show C.I.D.[original research?]

MSM's family of channels in India includes SAB TV, SET Max, Sony Aath, SET PIX, AXN, Animax and recently[when?] they have launched a 24 hour Hindi Music Channel Sony MIX, distributed by MSM Discovery Private Limited, a distribution joint venture between MSM and Discovery Communications India.[citation needed] The international feed of SET, branded Sony Entertainment Television Asia, is visible to viewers outside of India.[citation needed]

As of September 1, 2011, the channel has changed its identity by changing its theme and SONY word being inscribed on top of logos of all its sister channels - SAB, SET, PIX, MIX, SIX and MAX.

Contents

Competition [link]

Today, SET faces stiff competition from other players in the market, especially STAR Plus, Zee TV, and Colors.[citation needed] In terms of average prime time TVR; Sony Entertainment Television had 3 shows among top ten non fiction programs in 2010 while Zee TV and STAR Plus had two shows.[citation needed] But mostly SET is considered as a tough competitor of STAR Plus.[original research?] Currently,[when?] Sony is the 2nd most watched general entertainment channel followed by Colors and Zee TV.[citation needed]

Sony HD [link]

Sony is available in HD on DishTV, Tata Sky, Videocon d2h, Airtel digital TV and Hathway[3]. It is a commercial-free channel and was launched on May 28,2012.[citation needed]

Logos [link]

Sony Entertainment Television changed its logo three times, but they changed its graphics frequently. From June 16, 2007, all the Sony channels had the same type of graphics but a different colour and different before-serial graphics. But now,[when?] it has been declared that SAB TV will have the 2007 graphic.[citation needed] Only Sony Entertainment Television (India), Sony Aath, SET PIX and SET Max graphics would change.[citation needed]

Sony (disambiguation)

Sony is a Japanese multinational conglomerate corporation.

Sony may also refer to:

  • Sony, Mali, commune in the Cercle of Kayes in the Kayes Region of south-western Mali
  • Sony Music Entertainment, a music corporation
  • Sony Pictures Entertainment, a film and television distributor which owns Columbia Pictures and TriStar Pictures
  • Jean Sony (born 1986), Haitian footballer
  • Warrick Sony (born 1958), South African composer
  • Sony Alpha 100

Sony α100 (DSLR-A100) is the first digital single-lens reflex camera (DSLR) marketed by Sony. It is successor to previous Konica Minolta DSLR models (primarily the Maxxum/Dynax 5D and 7D) through Sony's purchase of the Konica Minolta camera division. The α100 retains similar body design and claimed improvements on Konica Minolta's Anti-Shake sensor shifting image stabilization feature, renamed Super SteadyShot. It uses a 10.2 megapixels APS-C size CCD sensor. Another notable feature inherited from Konica Minolta is Eyestart, which provides for automatic autofocus activation by detecting the presence of the photographer's eye on the viewfinder, thus quickening camera response.

Another notable feature is an automatically vibrating CCD to remove dust each time the camera is shut off. The α100 shipped from Sony and resellers by the end of July 2006 with MSRP prices of US$1000 with the 18–70 mm f/3.5–f/5.6 kit lens and US$900 body only. The camera retains the same autofocus lens mount that was introduced with the Minolta Maxxum 7000 in 1985, allowing the continued use of the millions of existing Minolta AF lenses.
