Some Girls Do

Some Girls Do is a 1969 British comedy spy film directed by Ralph Thomas. It was the second of the revamped Bulldog Drummond films (following 1967's Deadlier Than the Male) starring Richard Johnson as Drummond, made following the success of the James Bond films of the 1960s.

Plot

Drummond is hired after a series of inexplicable accidents befall the people and companies who are responsible for developing the world's first supersonic airliner, the SST1. Drummond, with the help of another agent, uncovers a plot by a mastermind named Carl Petersen, who stands to gain eight million pounds if the aircraft is not ready by a certain date. Petersen has developed a number of robots: beautiful girls with electronic brains to help him sabotage the SST1 project by means of infrasound (sound waves with too low frequency to be detected by the human ear) which can be directed at people or objects with devastating results.

Production

Joanna Lumley, who appears uncredited as one of Petersen's female robots in this film, was also working on the set of On Her Majesty's Secret Service at the same time, as both films were produced at Pinewood Studios. Virginia North also worked on both films simultaneously.

Some Girls Do (album)

Some Girls Do is the sixth studio album by singer Lee Aaron, released on September 23, 1991 through Attic Records. It reached #38 on the RPM Canadian Albums Chart on November 30, 1991 and held that position for a week. The only single, "Sex with Love", reached #55 on the RPM Canadian Singles Chart on October 26, 1991 and held that position for three weeks. The album would go on to receive a Juno Award nomination for Rock Album of the Year in 1992.

"Some Girls Do" is a song written by Mark Miller, and recorded by American country music band Sawyer Brown. It was released in March 1992 as the second (third if "The Walk" is counted) single from their album The Dirt Road. It was a number-one hit in the United States, while it peaked at number 2 in Canada.

Content

The narrator states that some girls don't like boys like him, but "some girls do.". The song begins with a potential object of his affection turning up her nose at his Cadillac as a way of rebuffing his attentions. Another woman witnesses the exchange from her front porch as she's painting her nails. She hints that it takes more than that to attract a woman, and they hook up with one another.

Some Girls

Some Girls is the 14th British and 16th American studio album by the Rolling Stones, released in 1978 on Rolling Stones Records. It reached number one on the Billboard 200 album chart, and became the band's top selling album in the United States, certified by the RIAA as having six million copies sold as of 2000. It was a major critical success, becoming the only Rolling Stones album to be nominated for a Grammy in the Album of the Year category. Many reviewers called it a classic return to form and their best album since 1972's Exile on Main St.

History

By 1976, the Rolling Stones' popularity was in decline as the charts were dominated by disco music and newer bands such as Aerosmith and Kiss. In the UK, the punk rock movement was a rising force and made most artists connected with the 1960s era seem obsolete. The group had also failed to produce a critically acclaimed album since 1972's Exile On Main St.

At least as important for the band's re-invigoration was the addition of Ronnie Wood to the line-up, as Some Girls was the first album recorded with him as a full member. His guitar playing style meshed with that of Keith Richards and slide guitar playing would become one of the band's hallmarks. Not only did his unconventional uses of the instrument featured prominently on Some Girls he also contributed to the writing process. In addition, Jagger, who had learned to play guitar over the previous decade, contributed a third guitar part to many songs. This gave songs like "Respectable" a three-guitar line-up.

Some Girls (formed in 2001) is an American indie rock trio composed of Juliana Hatfield (guitar and vocals), Heidi Gluck (electric bass guitar, keyboard, harmonica, lap steel guitar, and vocals) and Freda Love Smith (drums and vocals). The group's songs are generally melodic, upbeat, and lighthearted.

The group released first album, Feel It, in 2003 and toured the United States. Their second album, Crushing Love, was released in July 2006 on Koch Records. The release includes a DVD containing tour and studio footage.
