Snow White (Disney)

Princess Snow White is a fictional character and a main character from Walt Disney Productions' first animated feature film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The character of Snow White was derived from a fairy tale known from many countries in Europe, the best-known version being the Bavarian one collected by the Brothers Grimm. Snow White is the first Disney Princess and the first fictional female character with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She was originally voiced by Adriana Caselotti.

Development

Animators' initial sketches for Snow White's character, some of which bore a resemblance to Betty Boop, did not meet Walt Disney's expectations, as they were too cartoonish.

Hamilton Luske, whom Walt Disney had selected as the supervising animator for Snow White's character, was tasked with the challenge of making Snow White more believably human and realistic than any of the Disney studio's previous animated characters. This was a challenge Luske and co-animator Les Clark had previously been asked to explore while developing the character of Persephone for the Silly Symphonies animated short The Goddess of Spring. Of that project, Les Clark later remarked, "I'm sure Walt was thinking ahead to Snow White." Though the Persephone character ended up appearing somewhat lifeless and devoid of personality, that experiment in imitating realistic human movement and anatomy was continued and its lessons were applied in the development of Snow White's animation techniques.

Main characters

Shrek

Shrek (voiced by Mike Myers, singing voice provided by Michael Gough) is the lead character in of all of the films. He prides himself on being a big, green, terrifying ogre and is bad tempered and irritable. He begins the series as an unsociable hermit until he meets his soon-to-be best friend, Donkey. In a deal with Lord Farquaad, he and Donkey embark on a quest to save Princess Fiona from the castle in which she was confined. Despite their differences, Shrek and Fiona fall in love, marry at the end of the first film, and have three ogre babies in the third film. Chris Farley was originally set to play Shrek, but he died before he could complete film (he finished 80-90% of the film or according to his brother Tom, 95%).

Donkey

Donkey (voiced by Eddie Murphy) is a miniature talking donkey. He is Shrek's annoying but good-hearted best friend, Dragon's husband and father of the Dronkeys.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937 film)

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a 1937 American animated musical fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Productions and released by RKO Radio Pictures. Based on the German fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm, it is the first full-length cel animated feature film and the earliest in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series. The story was adapted by storyboard artists Dorothy Ann Blank, Richard Creedon, Merrill De Maris, Otto Englander, Earl Hurd, Dick Rickard, Ted Sears and Webb Smith. David Hand was the supervising director, while William Cottrell, Wilfred Jackson, Larry Morey, Perce Pearce, and Ben Sharpsteen directed the film's individual sequences.

Snow White premiered at the Carthay Circle Theatre on December 21, 1937, followed by a nationwide release on February 4, 1938, and with international earnings of $8 million during its initial release briefly assumed the record of highest grossing sound film at the time. The popularity of the film has led to it being re-released theatrically many times, until its home video release in the 1990s. Adjusted for inflation, it is one of the top ten performers at the North American box office.

Boa (Russian: Боа) is a Russian band founded in 1988 by Igor Knyazev and his cousin Sergei Serin. Boa’s musical style, a blend of Jazz, Easy Listening and Latino, has been influenced by elements of Ethno-fusion and World beat. It explains the choice of the name Boa: a short name, with the same meaning in many languages, quite exotic in Russia and advocating something tropical.

Boa’s performance credo is to combine bright, distinct melodies and unusual harmonies with ironic and smart lyrics. The current nucleus of the group is Igor Knyazev (main and background vocals, music, and lyrics) and Igor Shatsky (music, lyrics, arrangement, guitar, piano, percussion). In addition, from time to time Boa hires session musicians to diversify its repertoire.

All of Boa recordings are done by Shatsky and Knyazev, who are professional sound producers, at one of the best sound recording studio in Central Russia, The Black Box Studio in Voronezh.

MF 88

The MF 88 is a steel-wheel variant of electric multiple units used on Paris's Métro system. RATP contracted a consortium of manufacturers together following successful tests of the BOA prototype, with Ateliers du Nord de la France (now Bombardier Transportation) in charge of the project.

A total of nine train-sets were built, which currently operate on Line 7bis in a three-car formation. The high rate of wear-and-tear of the train-sets has made maintenance much more expensive than expected and it was speculated that they were likely to be replaced by spare MF 67s, which in turn were replaced by the MF 2000. However, this plan has been abandoned and it is unclear if the trains will be considered for a mid-life refurbishment. (From fr:MF 88).
