Sneem (Irish: An tSnaidhm) is a village situated on the Iveragh Peninsula (part of the Ring of Kerry) in County Kerry in the southwest of Ireland. It lies on the estuary of the River Sneem. National route N70 runs through the town.
The Irish village name of "An tSnaidhm", means "The Knot" in English. One explanation of the name is that a knot-like swirling is said to take place where the Sneem river meets the currents of Kenmare Bay in the estuary just below the village.
Sneem village comprises two squares, North and South. A bridge in the middle of the village, viewed from overhead, acts as a knot between the two squares. A less common explanation is that Sneem is the knot in the scenic Ring of Kerry.
A book, Sneem, The Knot in the Ring, recounts the area's history. In 2000, a time capsule was buried in the centre of the town, to be opened in 2100.
In March 1978, the state funeral of former President Cearbhall Ó Dálaigh (Carroll O'Daly) took place in Sneem; he had lived nearby before his death.
You can't believe, you can't destroy me
None can deny, you can't ignore me
All that you've done shall be denied now
All that you've built shall be destroyed now
You seek a rise but no proceed, seekers
That spark to build a raging fire is you.
I'm Born of Unity
Born of Unity
Wake up and prove you're not invisible
Our ancestors fought hard for our freedom
Are you free?
Listen to me
This is an empire built on lies and deceit
Bloodshed of your innocence screams a war cry
You are the fucking new breed, take no bull shit
I'm Born of Unity
Born of Unity
Take a life and smile at the ones who are crying for
Realizing my suffering, you don't know what I've been through
There's no war for peace.
Struggle - in our lives been through suffering
You're not forgiven
Fight as one coz this is a battle and we will win
Own your existence, live your right
