LL Cool J

James Todd Smith (born January 14, 1968), better known as LL Cool J (short for Ladies Love Cool James), is an American hip hop recording artist and actor from Queens, New York. He is known for such hip hop hits as "I Can't Live Without My Radio", "I'm Bad", "The Boomin' System", "Rock The Bells" and "Mama Said Knock You Out", as well as romantic ballads such as "Doin' It", "I Need Love", "Around the Way Girl" and "Hey Lover". LL Cool J is also known as one of the forefathers of pop rap. He has released 13 studio albums and two greatest hits compilations. His twelfth album Exit 13 (2008), was his last for his long-tenured deal with Def Jam Recordings. His latest album, Authentic, was released in April 2013.

LL Cool J has also appeared in numerous films, including In Too Deep, Any Given Sunday, S.W.A.T., and Edison. He currently stars in an action role as NCIS Special Agent Sam Hanna, on the CBS crime drama television series NCIS: Los Angeles. LL Cool J is also the host of Lip Sync Battle on Spike. He is also well known as a serious bodybuilder.

Walking with a Panther

Walking with a Panther is the third studio album by American hip-hop artist LL Cool J, released June 9, 1989, on Def Jam Recordings. While his previous album Bigger and Deffer (1987) was produced by The L.A. Posse, Dwayne Simon was the only member left of the group willing to work on Walking with a Panther, as other members, such as Bobby "Bobcat" Erving, wanted a higher pay after realizing how much of a success the previous album had become. Def Jam, however, refused to change the contract which caused the L.A. Posse to leave.Walking with a Panther was primarily produced by L.L. Cool J and Dwayne Simon, with additional production from Rick Rubin and Public Enemy's production team, The Bomb Squad.

Walking with a Panther was a commercial success, peaking at number six on the Billboard 200 and number one on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, where it spent four weeks. The album contained the singles "Going Back to Cali", "I'm That Type of Guy", "Jingling Baby", "Big Ole Butt" and "One Shot at Love", which also achieved chart success. Walking with a Panther, however, was met with a mixed response from the hip-hop community at the time of its release, who was un-favorable of several of the album's love ballads. The album was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Film screening

A film screening is the displaying of a motion picture or film, generally referring to a special showing as part of a film's production and release cycle. To show the film to best advantage, special screenings may take place in plush, low seat-count theaters with very high quality (sometimes especially certified) projection and sound equipment, and can be accompanied by food and drink and spoken remarks by producers, writers, or actors. Special screenings typically occur outside normal theatrical showing hours. The different types of screenings are presented here in their order within a film's development.

Test screening

For early edits of a film, informal test screenings are shown to small target audiences to judge if a film will require editing, reshooting or rewriting. At this stage the film may be incomplete, with missing or unfinished special effects shots or sound effects, or dialogue not yet rerecorded. Audience responses are usually recorded informally. Test audiences may be required not to discuss the film. A film may go through several test screenings.

Sneak Preview (album)

Sneak Preview is an independently released album by the future members of King's X going by the name of Sneak Preview. Reportedly, only about 1,000 copies were pressed. The band was not very impressed with the results and may have personally destroyed about half of the pressed copies, making this album a very rare item.

The album has a definite early 80s rock sound both songwriting and production wise. It does little to set itself apart from any other acts at the time and is also quite different from the distinctive sound they would develop a few years later as King's X.

However, there are a couple of seeds for future use planted here. The song "The Door" from this album was re-written lyrically and recorded for the Ear Candy album as "Picture"; "You're The Only One" was recorded for the Black Like Sunday album in 2003; and the instrumental break in the middle of "Inside Outside" was re-used on the track "I Can't Help It" from the Faith Hope Love album.

The song "Where's Everybody Going?" was frequently played during the live shows of Sneak Preview, often as the ending track. Some of the songs from this album are available as part of live bootlegs from that time. There were 5 videoclips released for this album: "Hang On", "Together", "Linda", "Inside Outside" and "Full Scale".
