Human interaction with cats

Hundreds of millions of cats are kept as pets around the world. Cats have either a mutualistic or commensal relationship with humans. Cats are also used in the fur trade, as food, and to control pests.

Cats and humans evolutionarily diverged from a common ancestor (boreoeutherian ancestor) approximately 80 million years ago, accumulating only 10–12 chromosomal translocations. The order of several genes in chromosomes X and Y in cats closely resembles that in humans.

Pet

Cats are common pets in all continents of the world, and their global population is difficult to ascertain, with estimates ranging from anywhere between 200 million to 600 million. In 1998 there were around 76 million cats in Europe, 7 million in Japan and 3 million in Australia. A 2007 report stated that about 37 million US households owned cats, with an average of 2.2 cats per household giving a total population of around 82 million; in contrast, there are about 72 million pet dogs in that country. Cats exceeded dogs in number as pets in the United States in 1985 for the first time, in part because the development of kitty litter in the mid-20th century eliminated the unpleasantly powerful smell of cat urine.

Smoke (Mortal Kombat)

Smoke is a player character from the Mortal Kombat fighting game franchise created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. He first appeared in Mortal Kombat II (1993) as a hidden unplayable opponent and gray ninja palette swap of Scorpion who would make random onscreen appearances during gameplay. He made his official playable debut in 1995's Mortal Kombat 3 as an unlockable character, this time as an indigo-colored swap of the game's cybernetic ninjas, Sektor and Cyrax.

His role in the series has predominantly been that of a brother confidant of the younger Sub-Zero; both are part of the Lin Kuei clan of assassins who boldly choose to defect after learning of the clan's plan to convert its members into cyborgs. Smoke was ultimately captured and transformed, and given orders to hunt down Sub-Zero, but unlike his robotic counterparts he had retained his human soul. In the three-dimensional games, he is connected with Noob Saibot, under whose command he serves. Smoke's background is expanded the 2011 Mortal Kombat reboot, while his and Sub-Zero's fortunes are reversed in the retelling of their MK3 storyline.

Catí

Catí is a municipality in the comarca of Alt Maestrat, Castellón, Valencia, Spain.

The municipality of Catí limits with the following municipal terms: Ares del Maestre, Morella, Chert, Tírig, Salsadella, Sant Mateu and Albocàsser all of them located in the province of Castellón.

Geography

Catí is situated at 661 metres (2,169 ft) above sea level, in the widst of a broad valley which is called "Catí Corridor" in the Alt Maestrat region. Geographically this area marks the boundary between the Ports region to which Catí belonged historically, and the Baix Maestrat, the centre of the mountainous area that connects El Ports of Morella with the Maestrat mountains, like Serra de Vallivana, Serra d'En Celler, Tossal de la Nevera and Tossal de la Barbuda.

Catê

Marco Antônio Lemos Tozzi (7 November 1973 – 27 December 2011), commonly known as Catê, was a Brazilian footballer who played for clubs of Brazil, Chile, Italy, the United States and Venezuela.

Career

Born in Cruz Alta, Rio Grande do Sul, Catê began his football career with local side Guarany. He had a brief spell with Grêmio before finding success with São Paulo under manager Telê Santana.

Catê played for Brazil at the 1993 FIFA World Youth Championship finals in Australia.

Death

Catê died in a road traffic accident in the town of Ipê, Rio Grande do Sul, when the car he was driving was involved in a collision with a truck.
