Smith's Ballpark

Smith's Ballpark (formerly known as Franklin Quest Field, later Franklin Covey Field, and most recently Spring Mobile Ballpark) is a baseball park in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is primarily used for baseball, and is the home field of the Salt Lake Bees minor league baseball team and hosts several University of Utah baseball games each year. The stadium is located on the site of old Derks Field, Salt Lake City's former minor league ballpark. Smith's Ballpark was built in 1994 with a capacity of 15,411 people, which is the largest seating capacity in the Pacific Coast League.

History

In its inaugural season, the Buzz set a PCL attendance record with 713,224 fans. The team led the PCL in attendance in each of its first six seasons in Salt Lake. The largest crowd at the ballpark occurred on July 22, 2000 against the Albuquerque Dukes with a crowd of 16,531 spectators.

Besides hosting the Salt Lake Bees, Smith's Ballpark has played host to two exhibition games featuring the Minnesota Twins, the 1996 and 2011 Triple-A All Star Game, a spring training game featuring the Seattle Mariners and the Colorado Rockies, concerts, soccer matches, and high school and college baseball games, including a Mountain West Conference tournament.

The Smith's Snackfood Company is a British-Australian company best known for its potato crisps. It is owned by the American multinational corporation PepsiCo. The company produces and markets various snack foods. Smith's Snackvend Stand is the branch of the company that operates vending machines.

Smith's Potato Crisps Ltd. was formed by Frank Smith and Jim Viney in the United Kingdom after World War I. The firm started in Cricklewood, London, reputedly in Smith's garage. In 1927 the company expanded into a factory in Brentford, London, which was enlarged in 1930. During the depression Smith travelled to Australia to expand the business. The company nearly went under during this time and had to be propped back up by a small number of visitors and investors. The company bounced back and expanded its brands, aided with the help of advancing technology. Smiths was later owned by biscuit company Nabisco, BSN and finally sold to American company PepsiCo in the 1990s. Subsequently Pepsico withdrew the brand, in favour of popular British brand Walkers, which had been heavily marketed in a campaign using ex-footballer turned television presenter Gary Lineker. Many of the products previously owned by Smiths became labelled as Walkers, although there are still several Smiths branded crisps.

Rhino Linings 350

The Rhino Linings 350 is a 350 kilometres (220 mi) NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race that takes place at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The race is 146 laps around the track.

History

LVMS did not host a truck race in 2000.

In 2011, the race was moved to October as part of the IndyCar weekend and becomes an afternoon race.

In 2012, the race was originally set for October 13 at 12 noon PDT as part of the IndyCar weekend, but Indy Racing League LLC faced issues from the 2011 IZOD IndyCar World Championship, with Truck race being that race's Saturday event, but the IndyCar race was removed as a result of legal issues following the death of Dan Wheldon on Lap 11 of the IndyCar race. As a result, it moved back to late September as a stand-alone race and returned to nighttime.
