Slauson is a bus rapid transport transitway station for the Metro Silver Line on the Harbor Transitway/(I-110) at the overcrossing of Slauson Avenue in South Los Angeles. The Slauson Metro Blue Line Station is located approximately 2 miles to the east.
The station has two side platforms in the median of the Interstate 110 (Harbor Freeway). The platforms can be accessed using elevators and lifts from Slauson Avenue below the freeway or by an overbridge from the park and ride to the east of the freeway. This station has two parking lots, one or each side of the freeway with a total of 160 spaces. Metro Local and limited lines 108 and 358 stop directly below the station at the street level (Slauson Avenue). As part of the Metro Express Lanes project, the station received some major station improvements. On September 6, 2011, the new stop located directly below the Slauson Silver Line station opened for Metro Local: 108 & Metro Limited: 358. The new stop is only for eastbound passengers. A westbound stop for lines 108 & 358 was not constructed. The station was upgraded with improved lighting in December 2010. CCTV and next bus trip arrival television screens were added onto the station in December 2012 and the monitors became activated on June 2013.
Slauson is an elevated light rail station on the Los Angeles County Metro Rail Blue Line. The Slauson/I-110 Station of the Metro Silver Line is located around 3 miles west of the station. Passengers may use the westbound Metro Local lines 108 or 358 and get off at Slauson Avenue and Broadway to connect to the Silver Line.
It consists of one island platform on the elevated Blue Line right-of-way over Slauson Avenue in the unincorporated community of Florence.
The Slauson station was built on the site of a major junction of the Pacific Electric Railway's Southern Division, where the Whittier, Fullerton and La Habra lines split off from the Watts, Long Beach, San Pedro and Balboa lines. This was called Slauson Junction. Slauson was considered the most dangerous street in Los Angeles.
Blue Line service hours are approximately from 5:00 AM until 12:45 AM daily.
