Rush is the soundtrack to the film of the same name, released on September 10, 2013. The soundtrack features a musical score composed by Hans Zimmer, plus five classic rock songs by Dave Edmunds, Steve Winwood, Mud, Thin Lizzy, and David Bowie.

In video games, rushing is a battle tactic similar to the blitzkrieg or the human wave attack tactics in real-world ground warfare, in which speed and surprise are used to overwhelm and/or cripple an enemy's ability to wage war, usually before the enemy is able to achieve an effective buildup of sizable defensive and/or expansionist capabilities.

Definition

In real-time strategy (RTS), real-time tactical (RTT), squad-based tactical shooter (TS), and team-based first-person shooter (FPS) computer games, a rush is an all-in alpha strike, fast attack or preemptive strike intended to overwhelm an unprepared opponent. In massively-multiplayer online first-person-shooters (MMOFPS), this also describes the masses of hundreds of players in massive, unorganized squabble in effort to win by gross numerical superiority. In these contexts, it is also known as swarming, cheese, mobbing, goblin tactics or zerging, referring to the Zerg rush tactic from StarCraft. In fighting games, this style of play is called rushdown. In sport games, this style of play is called blitz or red dog. This also has a different meaning in massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) and competitive online role-playing games (CORPGs), where characters frequently deploy summoned creatures (pets) for use in mob control tactics known as mob control, sapping tactics known as minion bombing, or use of tactics that involve repeatedly throwing themselves (dying and reviving) at a boss mob. Collectible card games (CCG) and trading card games (TCG) can employ a strategy of weening, flooding or aggroing the opposing player with small, cheap and expendable targets rather than strong, well-coordinated units.

Slash (Marvel Comics)

Slash (also known as Sister Agony) is a fictional character in the Marvel Comics Universe, most notably as a member of the Sisters of Sin.

Publication history

Sister Agony first appeared in Captain America #294-296 (June-August 1984), and was created by J.M. DeMatteis and Paul Neary.

The character subsequently appears in Captain America #298-299 (October-November 1984), and #301 (January 1985). The character subsequently appears as Slash in #355-357 (July-September 1989), and I ♥ Marvel: Outlaw Love (April 2006).

Slash appeared as part of the "Sisters of Sin" entry in the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Update '89 #7.

Fictional character biography

A member of the Sisters of Sin, Slash was a young disciple of the Red Skull. Her physical age was accelerated into an old woman, calling herself Sister Agony because of the razor-sharp talons she had in place of her hands. She and her Sisters attacked Captain America but were defeated. She was eventually restored to her natural age. However, soon after, she returned alongside the Sisters of Sin, this time as a young adult. She and her sisters were once again defeated by Captain America.

Slash (CMS)

Slash (Slashdot-Like Automated Storytelling Homepage) is a content management system, originally created for Slashdot, one of the most popular and oldest collaborative sites on the Internet. Slash is often incorrectly called Slashcode, which is the name of the project's web site.

History

Early versions of Slash were written by Rob Malda, founder of Slashdot, in the spring of 1998. After Andover.net bought Slashdot in June 1999, several programmers were hired to structure the code and render it scalable, as its users had increased from a few hundred to tens of thousands. This work was done by Brian Aker, Patrick Galbraith and Chris Nandor, resulting in version 2 of the software, released in 2001.

Until 2009, Slash was maintained by Jamie McCarthy and Chris Nandor, among others. The original codebase was abandoned in September of that year.

In 2014, users of Slashdot upset with its acquisition by Dice holdings, forked the website and created SoylentNews. During the initial rollout, developers found that Slash had been largely abandoned, and had compilation problems on modern Linux platforms. Major efforts were made to port the code to work with modern versions of Apache and Perl. The SoylentNews website launched in February of that year. Subsequent improvements made by the SoylentNews team include HTTPS by default, UTF-8 support, and removal of the JavaScript requirement for posting. With Slashdot having long since moved to a different platform, the SoylentNews developers are the de-jure maintainers of modern Slash.

Wolfie D

Kelly Warren Wolfe (born December 7, 1973) is an American professional wrestler. Wolfe is perhaps best known for his appearances with the World Wrestling Federation and Extreme Championship Wrestling under the ring name Wolfie D (as one-half of the tag team PG-13), as well as for his appearances with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling under the ring name Slash (as a member of the stable the Disciples of The New Church). He is a former NWA World Tag Team Champion and one-half of the reigning Traditional Championship Wrestling tag team champions.

Professional wrestling career

PG-13

Wolfe got his start in Jerry Lawler's United States Wrestling Alliance (USWA) and soon allied himself with J.C. Ice, forming a tag team with a white rapper gimmick known as PG-13. The team won the USWA Tag Team Championship on fifteen occasions. In 1996, PG-13 lost a Loser Leaves Town match against Ice's father, "Superstar" Bill Dundee. Shortly thereafter, a new masked tag team known as "The Cyberpunks" (Fire and Ice) appeared, which was really PG-13 in disguise. After a number of attempts to unmask them failed, they unmasked themselves upon having PG-13 reinstated into the USWA.

Man (Francis Dunnery album)

Man is an album from British musician Francis Dunnery, released in 2001. It saw Francis experimenting with new sounds, most notably programmed drum beats - a departure from what had been the norm in his studio work up to this point. Vocalist/keyboardist Erin Moran (of A Girl Called Eddy) features heavily on the album.
